I mean come on ask yourself that? Cuz you know War Machine has a bad a** attitude taking actions into his own hands. Any thoughts?

He's a great actor, and I enjoyed the way he delivered his "next time baby" line. It's just, his voice in general...
Can't imagine that voice (I know they'll alter it, but enough to not sound like him?) from inside the WM armour. RDJ and Bridges sounded fantastic. |

I don't know I think the guy could pull it off very well. Just need to give the guy a shot first.

I don't know that much about Terrence Howard as an actor besides his work in Ironman, but if he's a dedicated actor he can amp up his performance for sure. This guy has probably wanted to play War Machine for a very long time. Just because we didn't see the bad*** side of the character in this movie doesn't mean we won't see it in the sequel. Remember, Rhodey wasn't the one to go through all the trauma. Plus he's not paid by the military to be a high ranking hothead. That gets you punished in creative ways for this sort of behavior, even honorably discharged. Of course when working on the side as War Machine we could see a different side of the actor.

he's a very good actor but favreau needs to give him better direction, motivation and screen time.
his rhodey this time was very underwhelming and he just seemed like the fall guy for tony, didn't get a 'best friend vibe' from him

Terrance Howard is an incredible actor, and has delivered solid performances time and time and time and time and time again. Watching his other movies, this isn't even a question. You might as well be wondering if RDJ can pull off Tony Stark again.
I was actually surprised that anyone could actually doubt Terrance Howard's acting ability on any level, especially after seeing him take a supporting character and make us cheer him on. "Next timbe, baby" indeed. Seriously, if you've seen Terrance Howard in one of his movies, you wouldn't even dream of doubting his ability to play War Machine, badass or not. Rhodey has shown the seeds of bucking authority already, and a concern for people in general and a close, hilarious and even protective relationship with Tony Stark. |

Terrance is a fine actor, but he always, even when he's being intense and "badass", seems somewhat soft.
We'll see.

This is how pimp Terrence Howard is: I just read a preview of the new 'Invincible Iron Man' comic over at ign.com, and not only did Iron Man sound EXACTLY like Robert Downey Jr. in my head, but Terrence Howard keep talking out of the War Machine suit.
Trust me, he's gonna be freaking awesome. Voice and all. No other voice can talk back to Tony Stark. P.I.M.P. |

omg, Terence Howard is one of the greatest actors in the business right now. there's no question in my mind that he would be an awesome War Machine. so much so, that the black population of fans would sworn to the theaters just to see him as this superhero. even worthy enough to make his own spinoff film.
Terence Howard is awesome. and one of my personal favorite contemporary actors. he was great in Hustle & Flow, The Brave One, and an array of numerous other types of films. |

But if they keep Howard as a kind of a restricted military type, give him, perhaps a small simple personal subplot and the necessary badassness in the suit... I think he'll be fine. If Tony's dealing with alcoholism, Pepper, Mandarin's corporation outdoing Stark Industries, perhaps a rift with Howard... throw in some *really* malfunctioning machines and I don't think that anyone's going to be worried about Howard stealing the show. RDJ angry will happily steal the show back. On something else someone else said some time ago somewhere... on War Machine's voice... I would love it if they gave Terrance Howard's War Machine voice just some super bass and super reverb, make him a man of few words on the battlefield. It'd be kind of cool. |

I think Rhodey should don the armor temporarily in IM2 when Stark has his "demon in a bottle" storyline, which foreshadows his eventually transformation as WM in IM3 (which I hope will still happen after Avengers movie). I don't want to wait until IM3 to see it happen, and I think they must give Rhodey more interesting parts to play in the sequel.

Save a full War Machine for part 3...
the second movie they can have it where rhodey test-drives it, maybe helps out in the climax.. Oh--- and would Rhodey be tapped into Jarvis as well-- ?? maybe they could name his computer "Marcy"... (comics heads will know what I'm talking about) |

He just needs to work on how strong it comes out. Although I wasn't paying attention to his voice during "Next time baby." When I first heard it I was very surprised. Didn't flow with the movie for me. If he roughs it up a bit, or only talks in scenes that blow my mind then I won't care.
.........Actually, if they should more scenes with him and I got used to the voice, I could really go along with it. I'm a push over when it comes to stuff I watch many times.... Last edited by Faded To Deaf; 06-02-2008 at 05:58 PM. |

Ive seen the movie three times and every time ive seen it...Howards scene with the Mark II and the "Next time baby..." line got a huge reaction from the crowd...During my 2nd viewing of the film I could hear someone behind me muttering "OMG we get War Machine too!?". People wanted to see him get into the suit and they just got teased...Something tells me the general public is gonna wanna see him back as Rhodey...I personally think he can pull it off as he's an amazing actor...the voice thing I definitely think we can find a way around it.
