True. The Burton films were hailed as masterpieces back in the day. Now,they are only slightly more respected than the Adam West series.

They are still liked. It just doesn't help that TDK is the greatest comic book film ever made

Still liked, but not considered as highly as they once were. That's the point.TDK is still going to have it's fans, but once the new films come out,the "in crowd" will turn on Nolan's films the same as they did with Burton,Raimi,Donner,Etc.

It's the nature of the beast for some strange reason.

Unfortunately you're right. It's the fanboy cycle. When something new comes along suddenly the older stuff gets a big backlash. But eventually it passes after the dust settles.

Button and Rami were among the first. It's just that we've had better since.

The Dark Knight elevated itself above the genre, only now do we know the limit these films can reach

Films (like Batman himself ) have no limits.I mean, someday another film will "re-invent" the genre.Personally,I'd say Avengers already has.

Or, they like it because they find it better? Hmmmm there's a thought! Maybe some people never really dug the Raimi films to begin with! OH. MY. GOD! There is an even bigger thought!!!!!!

Sir, I apologize to you. I was trying to throw a joke but I get I was referring more to the fans than the movie itself and that's a mistake.

A character can be a certain way. To transform that way in the dimension the character is going to be portrayed with is not the same. You can be an ass but not in a funny way, it's really very simple.

In the case of JJJ, he was just fulfilling a function. And JK Simmons was able to develop new angles.

And that scene where he recognizes Spider-man was a hero was nothing but a build up to the usual JJJ joke: yelling that he hates Spidey. Cue sad trombone.

Douchebags, I have no problems with. No matter if he was it or not, it was still written with more than one dimension (or function), so it's all good.

No problem,Senator.

I can see why some don't like SM 3.I just get perturbed when people are "shamed" into not liking it by those who hate the film.

I guess it's not unlike pop music of today. The hits are decided by 15 year olds.Same thing with these films.A bunch of 15 year olds hit the web and decide that the "new" version is superior, because they out-grew the films they grew up with.

Add to that the frustrated film snobs that couldn't make it in the business, and think they know what "cinematic art" is better than the plebs, and you have our current fanboy culture.

IMO,of course.

Or they just think the new take is better. It really is THAT simple.

Not if the newer thing is disappointing

So when I make a post saying how I think TDK is overrated, I get a group of members attacking me.

I think it's a CB Film that is overrated as a comic book adaption.

I think TDK is great, but I just don't think it is the perfect, unbeatable movie people make it out to be. For me, its Heath Ledger's performance that really makes the movie. It has a very good script, but even then it has minor flaws (though its nothing compared to the very flawed TDKR script IMO). I'd put it in the same leagues as SM2, Iron Man 1, and The Avengers, all of which I give a solid 9/10.

Just my two cents.
