Like i said. It doesn't matter since i'm not writing it. Just my personal script.

But the main plot of the movie was Superman vs. the government vs. Brainiac. I even had an appearance by Henry Irons developing a "batle suit" for the government. The Richard/Lois relationship falling apart was the B plot and the showing the kid how to use his powers was two or three scenes ala Smallville when Clark learned how to shoot his heat vision with Pa Kent.
