or it might just never get rebuilt.
remember that Thomas Wayne is the one who had Lucius oversee the monorail and it's heavily implied that Wayne funded part if not the majority of the construction and he's the one who got the rest of it done through his connections etc there's a lot of examples of things like that just being abandoned in the middle of the city. in NYC you see raised platforms for trains abandoned all over the boroughs including the High Line in manhattan which for decades was basically just left to rot if Gotham is still rebuilding the Narrows and in a bad state, with no one to champion it, it might not get rebuilt however, I think ppl are right, in some of those shots you can see at least a part of the monorail in passing but it's not featured because unlike in BB it doesn't matter. it's like asking, how is Rutger Hauers's character doing? Dunno no one cares... doesn't mean he's dead or whatever it's just not important |

Like everyone else had mention, Wayne Enterprises is in the background of the showdown with the semi and the batpod.

Slightly off topic, but where was the Battersea Power Station? I don't remember seeing it, though I know they filmed there.

Hmm...seems strange of them to go there just to film that. I don't remember any establishing shots. They could have easily done that anywhere else, including a soundstage.

Okay.. in the END of batman begins, bruce says he is going to re-build wayne manor from the ground up, exactly the same.. and do some editing to the east wing.. ( the bat cave ! :-D ) and after seeing this movie 5 times now.. i recalled in the very beginning of TDK, Alfred said, " it will be nice when wayne manor is finished being rebuilt sir, something something, you wont have to sleep in the penthouse any more,"

Ya during that monologue a quick shot of the joker in a orange jump suit in his cell all alone staring into the camera would have been absolutely blissfull and would definately have fit into that whole montage of shots.

i think, with all the villans they " put away " during this movie, and that worked with the joker and such, and i think where they are holding 2 face, i think there will be more arkham in the third :-))

Why is everyone so uptight about the monorail? Did it have any signifigance to the story? No. Plus if the Joker had threatened to blow it up...it would have been a plot rehash from the first movie. Leaving subtle hints while progressing with more stories is better than constantly reminding people of something that doesn't help progress anything.

I did notice that Wayne Tower was in a completely different building, and there's no explanation for that because Wayne Tower wasn't destroyed at the end of BB. Hell, they were having a board meeting in it the very next day when Bruce fired Mr. Earle.

If anyone read the virals you will see that Wayne Manor is being rebuilt, Monorail is as well and of course the Batcave will be redesigned too.
The Batmobile will be redesigned I believe unless the Bat-Pod is used again. In the film, everything is burned so there is nothing left that ties Fox and Rachel to Batman so in my mind, Batman has no equipment left to work with except the Batsuit, gadgets on the utility belt and the Bad-pod. Truly 'Empire Strikes Back' of the trilogy.

This is from the VFXWorld.com article, The Dark Knight: Grounding Batman
"To everyone's satisfaction, many of the Gotham City geometries that had been built for Batman Begins could be reused for The Dark Knight. One exception was the art deco Wayne Tower, which was completely redesigned for the new movie. "Most of what you see in the finished film is actual Chicago," Franklin adds. "We used visual effects sparingly to extend and enhance the location material only when needed, such as when Chris Nolan wanted to sell the scale of Gotham or when it just wasn't possible to get a plate of a location from the angle needed." All of the CG assets were completely overhauled, remodeled to higher tolerances and then retextured to hold up to the greater scrutiny of IMAX -- and also to the fact that the new movie featured a lot more daylight photography. The only item that was reused without any modification was the Gotham City Monorail System, as it only played in two shots in the far background." |

I guess it was in the background but i didn't notice it . Luckily it doesn't have much affect on the film by not beeing there. You can just assume it's on the other side of town.
