Steve Jablonsky returns for TF:ROTF!

You just love defending crap, don't you? First the Watchmen movie, now this. It's funny watching you go on, especially when you dissect bad reviews from nobody critics. LOL. You must have no life.

WATCHMEN wasn't anything approaching crap.

And dissecting ridiculous reviews is a hell of a lot of fun. You should try it sometime.

And I don't recall saying this score is brilliant or original, just that I like certain parts of it, and that it doesn't sound like TDK to me.

Now then, one one hand you say that I have no life, and then you tell me that KING ARTHUR is where this stuff comes from. Really? You care that much about Zimmer and his scores that you can pinpoint a "ripped off track" from KING ARTHUR?

Really?

Intriguing. Specific track, please.

And I understand how composers have their own styles and their stuff can often times sounds alike, but Jablonsky's scores for the Transformers movies are just plain uninspired ripoffs. It's like Zimmer told him, "Hey, here are my scraps, do what you want with them." Listen to King Arthur, and you'll see where 50% on the new score comes from. You could probably watch most of the other movies Zimmer has scored to find the rest, but most of those movies probably suck and were directed by Micheal Bay. LOL.

I have enough of a life that I would prefer not to listen to the KING ARTHUR score just to see where this material could have come from. If you know the tracks, kindly present them.

Not the same. Jablonski and a number of other current composers like Bladelt and Gregson-Williams all work or worked within Zimmer's studio. They're considered his proteges. That's why their work all sounds the same, but never as good as Zimmer.

I fail to see how you can say "not the same", because I didn't qualify "influences". I'm certain that "influences" ranges beyond "Who I worked with and studied under"

Regardless, what's your point?

Are we discussing the quality of his protege's career work now, or are we discussing where this score's influence came from?

No. Again, I have enough of a life (read: other things to do) that I don't care to listen to two hours or scores simply to see what you're talking about. If you are so certain that TRANSFORMERS is a ripoff of the BATMAN BEGINS score...kindly present the similar tracks, moments, etc. I mean, TRANSFORMERS is half rock music and rock inspired music.

I don't particularly care if Zimmer had a hand in Transformers scoring, because I don't mind them having a similar sound. That said, the Transformers scores don't sound all that much like TDK, or even BATMAN BEGINS.

I don't care because it was irrelevant to my point. If you'd like to start a seperate discussion on the merits of Jablonsky's work, feel free to do so. I will not be involved, because I simply don't care that much.

Over 7 years, I've made an average of 7 posts a day. Doesn't strike me as that extreme. Whether someone has a life or not is pretty subjective. People value different things. I don't even believe there's an argument to be had there. I just find it to be an instance of the pot calling the kettle black.

Fair enough. It doesn't have to be an exhaustive list, I'm just curious.

And I agree on the female vocals bit. It's pretty much become a standard, if uninspired, way to communicate emotion in a score.

But I can tell you, as a score buff, I have NOT heard the Main theme, or Bumblebee's theme anywhere.

We all know there IS cues that sound like such and such....but thats what the Zimmer people do. Make scores that sound like Zimmers, so filmmakers can get a Zimmer style score, for cheaper then what Zimmer costs.

Thought overall the score was great again, I wish he would have kept the Prime theme from he enters the final battle in the first movie, I think it was used for Bumblebee this time, but should have been kept for Prime. Great score again though.

I think I'll buy the score whenever I can. Steve did another great job. Prime, Matrix of Leadership, and Infinite White in particular stand out for me.

If you're a fan of the first one, then "yes" but personally, I think they should have included more of the revised/edited versions of the old themes that were used in ROTF.

For example, in the movie, I heard the "Arrival to Earth" theme but with a different orchestration and it sounded AWESOME

Just got back from seeing it. The music wasn't as good as TF1 but maybe this is just a case of me having to grow into it a bit.

I agree. The soundtrack isn't bad at all, but it's not at the awesomeness of the first one. It didn't feel as epic to me (although the forest battle theme is good).
