Through a special embalming treatment, Angel Pantoja Medina, left, remained upright in a corner at his mother's home in San Juan, Puerto Rico, for his three-day wake. I know it seems really weird, but the practice is quite common in latin culture. The body of a loved one will be brought home, and usually sat in a chair. The family pays their last respects. They may leave flowers with the body, hold the hand of the deceased and pray, etc.
Personally I think the whole idea of embalming a body just so it can be preserved for a week is weird, but thats just me.

It's creepy to me, but if it was the guy's dying wish and the family and his friends are ok with it, guess I really have no right ot say anything against it. It just reminds me not to ask for anything special for my funeral, guess I should cross Carrot top telling jokes with my corpse as a prop off my list....
