Default Bring back.........Richard Donner for the reboot.

Lets be honest , the guy who made the genre and the first Superman films is still alive and active.

If its a reboot, bring him back and give him licence with all of todays technologies to , not so much recreate his previous visions but to capture the magic again.

The man is a legend and knows what he is doing and is reverent to it.

Thanks, but no.

Let him do further guest contributor stints on Superman comics (provided the artist has their act together), but as with Lucas, I don't see him being half the filmmaker he was in the '70s.

Donner would have gave us a better movie then that stinking load Singer filmed.

IMO , there is no conceivable way you can argue Singer did a better job then Donner.

AS as you see in that link. and if you want further evidence go to the hyper space the circuit site for the video taped movie of the making of super man returns. just e-mail them I'm sure they'll send you the tape to see for your self. Here's the link http://www.spacecast.com/hypaspace.aspx

He backed singer and said he was going the right direction. Too bad only the guys( certain fans) that keep saying they hate kids are being listened to about rebooting this movie. I wonder how they felt when people like them were saying about them selves(as kids) to their own parents. LOL
ahhhhh well.

Donner actually went to WB back in the mid-90s and offered his services (practically for free, no less!) to get the Superman film franchise back on track.

WB blew him off and said, "No thanks...."

Those fans are fans of Superman, not just Donner's Superman. Just because fandom doesn't want another Superman film by Donner or anyone who apes his style doesn't mean they hate kids.

Superman can still appeal to kids and make good films without Donner's involvement.

The mythos has barely been explored in film. Donner's already had his shot, three times if you count SR. The franchise needs an relevant update by new blood.

Gotta love the Superman Returns/Singerman apologists. Just face the facts, Superman Returns was an average to below average movie and story wise a below average Superman story. Brandon Routh was cast as a Christopher Reeve clone and no other reason, but he couldn't fill the suit. Kate Bosworth was about as believable as Jim Belushi would be playing Superman. Spacey had potential, but the direction they went with Luthor was bad.

Watching Batman and Robin was more enjoyable overall than watching Superman Returns. Superman hasn't been given its due respect, so it is about time it is given the proper attention. Bring on Welling or someone else who is more capable. Sorry SR cast, but you won't be coming back. Boo hoo to the apologists. Wake up and smell the bad movie that SR was.

Dark Superman Script:

Lois- "Your paying child support, scumbag."

Superman- "How about a late abortion??"

.. best movie.. ever
from here

http://www.superherohype.com/news/su...09&offset=1250
and their on other super man sites that have people talking like that, not what you described. please refrain from answering like this again when there are people that are proving other wise from what you say and are on another topic all together on why they hated the movie from your own .

The nuts are speaking and are the ones screwing and pushing for this reboot. not the one on this forum ( cause he's not) topic but the ones that are in other places on here and other sites on super man. you and the others here are on another topic altogether on why but Wb is listening to those nuts that say they hate kids in it and the second quote in that link proves that. those people and a tone more like them are on other super man sites doing this. and push in every mailing way possable. any way i'm done. your too busy arguing for the sake of arguing with out knowing what or bothering to ask what I'm talking about and are too sacred to get the in from the taped sources. AND ACTUALLY Getting THE RIGHT INFO. This is why G W bush got to be prez and why Donner really wants super man and other dc characters like bat man to exist to get rid of this none sense. man look a what things have become sheesh.

Ihe only thing that should be explored is that super man should be fighting villains like Drainiac and mongul and dark seed and dooms day and that adroid look alike astornaught from earth just befor his come back from the dead amng others and add in the fact that he has other weakness

besides Kryptonite such as

Magic: Superman's biomatrix is his most powerful asset, but the strength of this field is also its greatest weakness. It's permeability to certain wavelengths makes Superman vulnerable to certain radiations, particularly magical energies whose chaotic electromagnetic or extradimensional signatures disrupt this forcefield. Superman's vulnerability to magic varies on the special effects of the magic. No magic seems to be able to directly destroy him unless it comes from a semi-divine or divine source. He can be injured and worn down by magical entities. Magic can have powerful and unpredictable effects on Superman and his magical enemies have often proven to be the most dangerous.

High Energy Attacks or Radiation: High energy radiations of a particular wavelength can also cause injury by overloading the field at a single point, hence the reason he can be harmed by high energy weapons such as blasters, lasers and plasma weapons. Kinetic kill weapons with sufficient force can also overload the field at that point. which both earth one superman and new earth super man the one now have.

I said that (the part about viillans) on the forum here http://forums.superherohype.com/show...=306569&page=3 and that comment page. other then that. just don't bother with what the deal on what's on other minds cause your obviously not on the same page with those nuts. So please don't speak for them. And make it as if I'm on another world. ugh. really man.

what ever I had to leave an X-men site a few year's back that I ran for half a decade cause of that. I don't have beef with any one but I really don't like it when people don't have all the info and argue with me almost to the point of madness or something to the point of its the "I don't care thing." your was a mistake, but I unfortunately had to leave good site cause most of people acted too insane at times and I was warned by another poster that worked their for a short time to leave. all cause the others didn't know to stop acting like jerks, and one ofthe guys I hired their as a mod messed wit one of my works that was indeed X-men related as well about a spiderman movie. and it was deleted when he moved it and the site owner said that he moved it too early befor it was time too. and he gave some attitude and tryed to fraim me with some kind of i'm try to do what I want crap. when I was already half on myway to retiring from there.

the site owner was cool and i'll always respect him and I enjoyed my time there be fore that b.s. went down with others on that forum but I hope never to keep running into this again. I accept the apology but please ask me what it is i'm talking about i'll be happy to show what's really going down. cause alot of messed up stuff is happening now and days. that would make you bang your head on a wall. any way lets move on from this. I'd rather this stay on topic.

Zenith:

I'd rather the franchise just move on from Donner's vision. The mythos needs to be explored more, Luthor needs to be used less at least for a movie or two since he's over-exposed right now and there are other good villains, they should deal with the Post-Crisis Superman mythology since he isn't an unbeatable god like he was in Pre-Crisis.

The films just make him to powerful right now and don't give him good enough physical threats. This wouldn't be that bad if WB had given him enemies like Metallo, Brainiac, Cyborg, Mongul, Darkseid etc to fight but they've just stuck him with Lex and Krytonite.

Superman being completely invulnerable makes him much harder to sympathize with him or think that he's in danger.

LexCorp Lex always appealed to me more then fugitive scientist Lex.

It's not like I don't like the Donner films or SR. They're well made and enjoyable movies.

But Donner's era is over now, the world is different the it was back then, the Superman mythos has more in it that and it's time that was shown in film.

I wouldn't against an SR sequel if it went in that direction though it is a bit frustrating to see a new Superman film finally getting made only to give new elements which are continuity nightmares, the status quo being altered considerably, the romance taking over in a super-hero franchise and Singer waiting for the sequel to do anything beyond Donner.

Yep...30 years, and Donner's film STILL kicks as much ass as it did in '78.

But seriously...ever since the Chris Nolan Batman films, so called "fans" are just s**tting all over the Batman films of old...and now the talk of this "reboot" is doing the same to Superman.

Why exactly?

"Superman: The Movie" and "Superman II" are still excellent films...so as I said for Batman, I don't understand why people feel the need to spew bull like "Sry Jwills" (NOTE: The man's name is John "The Maestro" Williams...show respect) or just take a big dump on the Donnerverse in the process of praising the proposed "reboot"

If you want a reboot that's fine...just don't go on and on about people needing to let the Donnerverse go and s**t like that. So what if people still love "Superman: The Movie."

I do want to see a reboot, despite knowing full well it'll never have the impact of Donner's film.

Because whether you love Donner or not, you have to admit that seeing a Superman movie WITHOUT William's score is gonna be all types of akward and wrong.

is it me or does the younger crowd not like the Donner Films, while the older crowd does? Side note, if Donner came back to due Superman III the villian was to be Brainiac.

And before start looking for actors who would best fist the Superman characters, should we not first debate on what kind of a story we want for the film and then search for the characters that can fit that story?

I'm from the younger crowd and like the Donner films.

The difference probably is my generation can move on from it easier. We want the franchise to move forward, not backward.

A lot has changed with Superman since Donner made his films.

This can be explored without being anchored by them.

You don't need to bring Donner back to use Brainiac.

^ good points, thanks for your view on things.

Also I know you dont need to bring back Donner for Brainiac, I was just saying that he was going to be the villian in Supes III. Makes you wonder what he could of done with him and the technology Donner had back in the mid 80's.
