Never liked Ripchord, so as long as he gets killed off by Storm Shadow or Cobra Commander I'll be happy.

Damon Wayans is the funniest of the Wayans, even though his TV show wasn't funny (My Wife and Kids).

Seriously, when executives make idiotic decisions like this one must wonder what qualifications allowed them to get hired into these positions. It's quite sad that over half of the people contributing to these forums can come up with much better casting decisions than these morons.

![]() Seriously, what did they expect when they cast Wayne? I too hope his character will meet a spectacular ending at the hands of Storm Shadow.

The one thing that will always bother me whenever I think about this movie is the horrific casting of Wayans. I like Ripcord, and am very dissapointed that a black man is playing him, since, you know, Ripcord's a white man.
I like Marlon Wayans, and hate the fact that he took this role.

Just because you turn in one good performance in a small film doesn't negate a career of ****ty performances....

Now, honestly I don't hate Wayans. He works, in certain things. Namely, stupid comedies. But GI Joe? No, no no no no no NO.

I know thats right. I can't stand anything he's in. You all remember when he was suppose to play Robin in Batman Returns? That would've been TERRIBLE. I could be wrong but this movie is looking like the biggest disaster placed on film (like Battlefield Earth Disaster). If I see the trailer and it rocks I'll be the first to admit it but this is not looking like the G.I. JOE movie fans been waiting for. The person that screened the movie said this looks like "typical Steven Sommers" material; that should tell you something.

Which is why he did White Chicks and Little Man to wash away that seriousness.

I'd rather have Stalker than a black Ripcord, especially if Stalker were played by Wesley Snipes.

poor GI joe, they never stood a chance to survive their final battle... "GI Joe vs the terrrible script in the land of awful casting"

The thing with doing a live action G.I.Joe movie is simply that there are those fans who grew up on the grittiness, realism of the early GIJoe Marvel series and there are those fans who grew up on the silliness of the cartoon.
I loved both incarnations, the cartoon brought our favorite characters to life, gave them voices, personalities and some semblance of continuity by 1980's cartoon standards, I only follow the Sunbow/Marvel series as the DIC version is just an alternate universe. The comics expanded on our favorite Joes and created back stories for most of the heavy players creating a military/fantasy soap opera that worked well for what was considered a simple toy line. Now doing a Joe movie can either go both ways, making it look realistically like Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down will please the die hard Marvel fans but alienate those who only watched the cartoon, and having Larry Hama as consultant isn't exactly reassuring since he can only contribute what the producers deem necessary. Or it can become another flash in the pan stinker like Street Fighter/Double Dragon/Mortal Kombat since seeing Marlon Wayans in the cast doesn't please anybody. |

Well the comic did precede the cartoon.

I hope Star Trek is the last gasp of a dying franchise...as for Watchmen, being a big fan of the graphic novel, I don't feel it is something that should have been adapted so I'll be looking sideways at it

There is a lot more that's wrong with this movie than just Marlon Wayans. Stephen Sommers is the critical flaw. This movie was DOOMED from the very moment when he became involved! There is no reason to be hyped for this movie, unless you either hate G.I. Joe, or will simply buy anything with a brand name that catches your attention.

Yeah I have no hopes for this movie. They just, as Ian Malcolm would say from Jurassic Park, slapped a label on it and now we're selling! We're selling! The biggest example of why this film will suck is that Dennis Quaid described it as something like Boobs and Guns.
