Lightbulb Cap's Shield Used In Armor Design?!

Anyone else read the bonus story attached to the Walmart Iron Man DVD?

If you haven't and plan on reading it later then stop reading this.

Here's the Marvel.Com trailer for it:
http://www.marvel.com/videos/415.Exc...rt_DVD_Trailer

SPIOLERS ...

It's an excellent little comic that tells of Nick Fury and Agent Coulson's behind the scenes dealings during the events of the film. It's very well written and extremely interesting.

The story tells of Stark's father's involvement in Project Rebirth. It states that, off camera, Tony pulled the old files on an alloy his father worked on during WWII. Tony found an example of the alloy in his father's archives and then used it to strengthen his suit of armor. It shows him working on a Captain America shield in a small panel. What Tony found was just a prototype, a reject of Cap's real shield. According to the story, that's what was on Tony's work bench in that one scene.

About the shield...

"The final product was lost... although you can bet your life we'll never stop looking for it."

This is brilliant and it ties the Avengers arc together. I wonder if this is the official path Marvel is taking?

The story also shows that Fury had his doubts about Tony and thought he might be the one working with the Ten Rings. It tracks Agent Coulson and mirrors the film. It intelligently fleshes out the behind the scenes of the movie and ends with the classic Fury/Stark scene we all saw after the credits.

I believe it's also available on the bonus Walmart DVD in digital comic form.

it was confirmed in wizard magazine that the shield was placed in the film as a hint and a way to plant seeds for the avengers movie. this background story is interesting and i hope they mention it in the films.

The 2 disc special edition with the actual physical comic book is the better call IMO because that bonus second disc is loaded with a ton of cool features. The other version features a bonus DVD with the digital comic and an episode of that new, lame Iron Man cartoon. The down side is the movie itself is just the one disc, bare bones movie.
