Default The technology used in Iron Man

Not only the technology of the suit, but think about all of the technology that Stark had in his home...From Jarvis to the multitude of computers in his home...Is it realistic? I'm not tech savvy, so forgive me if I sound stupid.

I'm not savvy where mechanics are concerned, either, but I'm fairly sure that Jarvis and the 3D "hologram table" were probably invented for the film (since Tony's supposed to be an exceptional genius).

I don't think it's realistic, just cool. Really cool.

Yeah, and we will be able to become Iron Man! Just like in V For Vendetta

I'm a real estate developer and I can tell you that smart homes are becoming closer and closer to what Tony Stark lives in. We can build homes that know when you arrive home, can recognize what room you're in and create the perfect climate and more.

With the proper software and voice recognition design even JARVIS is a possibility (albeit a LOT of programming and work would have to go into it). If this market hadn't come crashing down, that would have been my next work.

Even the suit itself is way advanced.

Sure, we can make the armor. But to make it function, fly, give it weapons like guns and missiles, and have it have computer interfaces in it would make it extremely heavy and un-wearable.

JARVIS was the KITT to ironman. Heck i'm sure tony could have uploaded jarvis into one of his cars and we'd have a Knight Rider movie instead of Iron Man.

Jarvis also had emotions and moods that is only available in movies

"Sir there are still terabytes of data......" where he acts almost annoyed

"What was I thinking your usually so discreet........"

alot of the holographic interfaces seen in iron man were actually developed in earlier cgi films.

the one that comes to mind is minority report

Actually it IS possible like in the movie, just not yet.
The point is, the holograms were interactive, and with advancements in all of those areas, the concept is realistic and even possible, even though not achieved yet.

For all those who this its not possible...do you think anyone ever thought the internet/mp3 players/iphones were possible in the 70's/early 80's? Eventually anything technology-wise in the movies becomes realistic...if it wasn't for the internet, we'd probably have those hovercraft flying cars everyone thought we'd have.

Exactly, if you explained the Internet to someone as late as the seventies or even eighties, they´d look at you like you ran away from a mental hospital. Then again, some futuristic ideas from the past haven´t come true in the present day, like flying cars.
