I think it IS a bit different from the concept art, but it's difficult to see. I hope it's closer to the uniform from the comic.

SyFy would have to be stupid to NOT change their initial plan after the universal ridiculing of the pathetic concept art.

Don't count on it, I mean we are talking "SyFi" here.

Yeah. The fact that they could even think about using the concept designs they released, makes it clear they have no idea whatsoever how to update this character without taking away what makes him cool in the first place.

And the name "SyFy" deserves all the ridiculing it gets. I understand they wanted a real brand name, but that's the best they could think of?!

First look at the Skull Cave

http://www.chroniclechamber.com/

First photo of the Skull Cave

The Montreal Gazette has just revealed the first photo of what appears to be the Skull Cave in SyFy's upcoming mini-series "The Phantom".

Seen in front of it is actor Ryan Carnes, who stars as the Phantom/Chris Walker, and members of the crew.

Kind of looks boring, but hey its only a set.

I just watched the 90s Phantom movie again. I hated it years back but now its grown on me. I kind of hope that this Phantom for syfy will be as nice and polite as Zanes.

That looks like a really small entrance. Does he crawl through the mouth to get in? And if so, how does the horse get in there?

Since this is a modern version I don't think he rides a horse.

That Skull Cave looks less spectacular than the one seen in the 1943 version (starring Tom "Captain Marvel" Tyler), which is a crime. I get that it's fairly low budget, but yikes. The cave is meant to look spectacular, not like a bloody theme park attraction.

Maybe the Skull Cave is in a park in the middle of whatever city he's going to be hanging out in. Or maybe it IS in an amusement park. Kind of underwhelming, though.

Modern yes, but it's the same cave that served all the Phantoms before so it should be horse sided. Rocks don't just shrink.

Well, I'm still looking forward to it.

Re imaginings aren't all that bad. If done right. Duh.

Maybe this project will surprise us.

Or it'll blow Phantom nuggets.

Yeah, at least Tim says there still making it. He gives an update everynow and then about the script, and said filming should start at the end of the year.

I doubt their making it anymore.

I've seen nothing that indicates that they are not making it. Have patience, the last Phantom movie took at least eigh years to get made.

Good looking costume. That one on a bulked up guy would look hella intimidating.

Not sure if they're making it at all anymore... Both of the film's IMDb profiles have vanished (that includes the "In Development" industry insider profile).

I hope I'm wrong, though. I've sent Tim Boyle an e-mail asking him if the project has been cancelled, hopefully he'll respond.

BTW anyone seen this one? It's one of the better serials based on a superhero.
I've always thought the Phantom was one of the comic book characters best suited to the serials, and it's probably the most faithful adaptation of the character yet.

OMG...even friggin' Wonder Woman still has an imdb page open, and that movie isn't going anywhere.

If it is indeed canceled, to me, this is big news.

You could do a live action series and make it good that might even be better than a movie but I don't know about this syfy one.

It would be very, very sad news for me. Then all I would have to "look forward" to of Phantom adaptations would be the SyFy series. *shudder*

If they can't get the financing for such an expensive movie, make it on a lower budget. The Phantom is the kind of character who doesn't really need car chases and big explosions, he works just as well in more suspenseful, down-to-earth thrillers.

Keep in mind, this is all speculation on my behalf. No facts on the table.

People, the movie project has been in development hell for what, 7 years now?

It's not like it was quite up and running yet.

Let's not abandon all hope quite yet.

Yes, it seems like there is still hope:
http://latestphantomnews.blogspot.co...g-phantom.html

It seems like they are looking for a director. At least Boyle confirms they are still making it, and that he is still the writer.
