Trailer for the SyFy mini. Looks damn good, actually, except the fact that the costume looks... Well, see for yourself. Better than the original concept art (at least there is some kind of mask here), but still too far away from resembling the real Phantom, and waaaay too Batman Begins/Robocop-like. However, since we get to see the old costume here (briefly), maybe they will have flashbacks to the 1st or 21st Phantom wearing it, that would really be a wonderful nod to longtime fans of the character.

Ryan Carnes looks excellent as Kit Walker. A very promising choice of actor.

Looking forward to the series, I really am. However, if the Legacy project gets of the ground, I hope it will give us a hero who, well, resembles the Phantom a lot more than this. I trust it will.
I'm still not crazy about the new costume but the trailer doesn't look too bad. I see where they are going with it a little better after seeing the trailer anyway.

I'll check it out.

Funnily enough, I thought the "I'm not wearing that" moment was the only gem in the entire trailer. It looks like complete garbage and reminds me a lot of this year's GI JOE in the sense that it has the name "The Phantom", but is absolutely nothing like The Phantom at all.

When I first heard that some production company was adapting "The Ghost Who Walks" I was really happy that we might actually get a cool Phantom movie. Looks like I'll keep waiting. Bleh.

funny that he says "I'm not gonna wear that" when he saw the original Phantom outfit because I would have a different reaction, especially if the other outfit is a Judge Dredd with a hoodie combo.

If you stop the video on the shot of the Phantom {at about 1:37} you get a pretty good look at his "New" mask.

VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

The part of the mask that is over his face is kinda like the mask in the DareDevil/Hulk TV movie.

Who comes up with this crap? :

Well those two shows had good companies and teams behind them. This has an entertainment company that makes nothing, but crap mini series for the big 3 networks and movies for the sci fi channel.

RHI and Asylum are pretty much on the same level. The only thing RHI ever put out that I actually watched was "The Hogfather" and that's because Terry Pratchett is one of my favorite authors.

I'm surprised people are saying this looks good on any level. It's not even the costume, or the fact that the story revolves around The Phantom being baked by the government, or some secret organization (Gee, wonder which organization THEY'LL turn out to be). I can deal with changes to the mythology. This just looks like lazy, uninspired, lowest-common-denominator crap.

I don't know why you are so upset The Guard. You liked the ****** costumes in GI JOE. And GI JOE for that matter. This looks like Phantom gone GI JOE just without a budget.

I'm not upset. Me thinking a show looks like crap isn't neccessarily me being upset.

I wasn't thrilled with the costumes in GI JOE, but they made sense in context. This one, I understood why they changed the original for a modern project, I even understand why they went the armored route in some fashion, but they went wayyy too far with it. Kit just looks stupid in his bright purple wool cap. This really looks like SMALLVILLE met Power Rangers-while-they're-in-civilian-clothes (Always gotta wear your color, don't you know!), with a Phantom who has decided he needs to armor up like The Punisher. I suppose it could work in context, and maybe it will, but I'm not holding my breath. Maybe he'll have a motorcycle named "Devil" and everything will be all right.

My main issue is the apparent nature of the storyline and acting.

I can understand them wanting to move from the skintight costume to armor as it would amke more sense for this Kit Walker as he has no training and will need protection. But they could have at least pulled a Batman. Where the armor looks like the original costume in some way.

Exactly, That's a great ideal.

Yeah, the costume is just stupid. Plain and simple. I actually prefer Billy Zane's version and I never thought I'd say that in a million years.

Except that...he clearly has training as per the trailer. I have no issues with some kind of armor. They just went a bit too far with it.

I actually thought the whole trailer was rubbish and that the original costume he dissed would have looked really good.

Can somebody, Anybody, post some screencaps of him in costume from the trailer? Please.

Since screenshots were requested:

First photo makes him look like some kind of ninja.

...and Billy Zane IS awesome. One of the most underrated actors of today, who deserves a better career than he's had post-Titanic.
