A few others...

I just don't understand the hood. It would have looked sort of ok if that was gone.

It probably is. There was an uproar when the costume designs posted online showed no mask, only a stupid hood.

The part of the mask that is over his face is kinda like the mask in the DareDevil/Hulk TV movie.

Who comes up with this crap? :
This is the shot I was talking about...

If Batman and Robocop somehow had a child together, this would be their son. He looks like a big baby with that new hood. Damn it.

I could have dealt with some sleek looking armor, but that just looks awkward, what with the neckpiece and big hoodie. He looks like a Masters of the Universe reject with his giant head and little armored torso. At least the concept hard had a vague "skull" look to his torso armor. Now it sort of looks like he's wearing a ski jacket with some sort of strap on armor over it.

If the hood was slightly thinner...maybe. And that's no mask...it's a visor, and it looks especially horrible in context. This guy already can barely act, we need to be able to see his eyes. It should have been a mask with at least some semblence of eyeholes. I wonder if he has a fanny pack now.

I guess he'll be The Ghost Who Stalks.

You know, I never actually realized that was a hood. Thought it looked more like a helmet, but it's probably a hood now that it's been pointed out. Makes it even dumber. A least it would kind of make sense to wear a helmet of some kind if you happened to go into crimefighting.

I don't think the visor/hood will give Carnes trouble acting (look how great Keaton did in Batman and Weller did in Robocop with their clunky costumes), but it makes no sense to have that visor. His vision will be really poor in it.

Christ, I hope The Phantom Legacy gets of the ground and shows how things are supposed to be done.

at least give it some eyes, or make the 'visor' tighter around the face. really it looks nasty.

Still think a visor is better than no mask at all, though.

Anybody notice that he's got the same collar that the last Punisher movie had on the vest? Heck, the whole thing looks like they took bits of tac-vest and hot glued motorcross pads on it. Cheap, stupid.

It's actually from the same costume designer who worked on Punisher: War Zone. The Punisher's outfit looked about five hundred times cooler.

That's...that's just lazy costume designing.

Weirdly enough, I thought the concept art for this costume was at least kind of cool, at least for a re-imagining of the character.

But the final version is just a monstrosity.

I thought the concept art was completely directionless. It made no sense whatsoever to me, and looked ugly as hell.

Not that the new version makes that much sense, mind.

I'll never tire off bashing this outfit.

Why, oh why, did this character have to fall in the hands of the people behind Flash Gordon? Where are HBO when you need them?

But the final one we got is just soooooo dumb. That visor is probably the worst thing ever.

The one to the right is made by a talented fan named Mick Collins, who is now drawing the Phantom professionally for Moonstone. If they had gone with his design, I would have been an even happier man.

The one to the left makes him look like a giant dildo or something.

Good lord.

He looks like the Punisher meets a paintball enthusiast playing "Pin the tail on the donkey".

Some great new photos.

Everything about the show looks good to me, except that hideous f****** costume. I can't describe how frustrating that is for someone who's waited so long for the Phantom to return to the big or small screen.

There's nothing good about Isabelli Roselini's atrocious blond wig. Not to mention I'm reminded that Guran is being played by a half-white/white-asian WOMAN!! However fictional the country of Bengalla is, it's still supposed to be an African country, isn't it? Was Thandie Newton unavailable? Her movie career ain't THAT busy!

Bengala's kinda nebulous. Depending on when you read the comic and from who it seems African, Indian or some other south Asian (like Vietnam or Thailand or Cambodia). As long as it's deep, wet jungle I'm fine with it.

Bengalla was originally intended to be placed in India (though Falk never actually revealed this in his stories), but was later stated to be an African country. It has elements from lots of cultures, as ChickenScratch says.

As for Guran, it's endlessly silly to "re-imagine" the part as a girl. Don't know how any writer could think that was a good idea. It's probably meant to be a descendant of the Guran in the comics, but it's still endlessly stupid, especially since she is also named Guran (they should have gone with Duran Duran).
