Not sure if it's been mentioned, but about halfway through this video we hear soundwave's voice.

I'm guessing the movie version won't stray too far from it, as it seems bold for the developers to include that without backing it up in the movie.

^Yeah, because if they arent, a lot of people are going to be upset. I find it curious why we havent seen him in the trailers as of yet though, when we have seen everyone else.

Anyone else a little disappointed that Ravage is the only classic Soundwave minion we're getting this go-around? I mean, I would've atleast liked to have seen Laserbeak as well.

I'm cool with him not coming down to Earth, I think the fact that he really is the communications expert he's supposed to be, gathering all the things the decpticons are gonna need: info, alt. modes stuff like that is great. But come on, if you're not gonna have him transform at least give him the freakin voice, especially since Welker was confirmed to be voicing him. What the Hell...

From what I've read, Soundwave is more useful to the Decepticons as a satellite than as an robot.

And I've heard his voice got BETTER without the sintetizer.

Yeah I really like the idea of him just looming out there. I hope your right about the voice, always liked the old one, but I'm not completely against change or a G1 super-purist. Guess we'll find out in a couple weeks.

No vocoder effected voice, then wouldnt he sound similar to cartoon Megatron being that was Frank's semi natural voice. I said all along after hearing the news about Frank voicing Soundwave and everyone getting all excited, if they make Soundwaves voice like in the cartoon(vocoded) then ANYONE could do the voice, makes sense the voice would be cleaner using Frank(hearing how its non-vocoded now)

Actually his natural voice is Fred from Scooby Doo. Rumble is close too. But without the vocoder Soundwave is Dr. Claw (you know from Inspector Gadget) speaking in monotone.

To play devil's advocate for a minute, maybe they experimented with applying the vocoder effect and just couldn't get it right? I can imagine that its probably hard to pull of and getting it to be similar to what it was 25 years could be even hard. Animated Soundwave showed what can happen if its done wrong, with him being barely audible a lot of the time there.
