Default Secret Weaknesses

Hello everybody.
I was looking for some help, I need to make a list of superhero weaknesses to help with an article for a fan-zine.

I'm looking for some obvious weaknesses, but also some lesser-known or outright bizarre ones. These don't have to be recognisable, for example if you've noticed that a certain hero (or villain) tends to often get defeated or captured in the exact same way, I'd love to hear it.

Marvel, DC, Image, golden-age, current, whatever. I'd love to hear some really strange ones if you have them.

Thanks!

Aquaman - vulnerability to piranhas
Superman - vulnerable to Kryptonite (effects vary according to color), vulnerable to magic, can't see through lead lined materials
Green Lantern (Alan Scott) - vulnerable to wood
(pre Kyle Rayner) - vulnerable to the color yellow
(Kyle Rayner) - due to his being an artist, Kyle relies heavily on his visual faculties to create his constructs. Therefore, Batman theorized using a post-hypnotic - or sleep induced - suggestion that Kyle was blind would seriously hinder his ability as a Green Lantern. This theory was applied by Ra's Al Ghul successfully
(all) - require their rings to be recharged using the Green Lantern battery
Martian Manhunter - vulnerable to fire

spiderman tends to have vertigo when he's aware of how high he is

johnny storm needs oxygen to combust

I think blackbolt can exhaust the atoms in his viscinity making him weak.

blade shares similar weaknesses to vampire except i believe sunlight.

Wolverine - with adamantium, he's vulnerable to any powerful magnet or magnetic power based foe. Also, he had a Muramasa blade created to be used on himself, should the need arise; it's already been used on Sabretooth. He also has a weakness for the general female population; despite his attitude and apparent toughness, his care for various women in history has been exploited numerous times.
Cyclops - is completely dependant on ruby quartz glasses/visors; without them he cannot open his eyes or control his optic blasts.
Gambit - weakness for purple and pink, along with "duster" raincoats

Cyclops can easily open his eyes without his visor, dude. He just can't control his optic blasts due to brain damage he sustained as a child.

Daxamites like Mon'el and Sodam Yat are vulnerable to lead.

Thor used to turn back into his human form if he was separated from his hammer for more than 60 seconds.

The Juggernaut loses most of his power if his mystical connection to Cyttorak is cut off. He remains fairly strong and tough, but nowhere near his usual level, and his magic "nothing stops the Juggernaut" thing goes away so that he can be stopped while in motion like anyone else.

I like to think that messageboards in the DC universe are littered with posts like these, from users all named like "notabankrobbingsupervillian133769" .

And what you wrote differs from what I said, how? If he opens his eyes sans glasses or visor, he cannot control his power. Whether that's a manifestation from brain damage or original mutation is besides the point.

Well, it differs because you said he can't open his eyes without the visor. As in, it's physically impossible for him to do so. Only, it's not.

Eh, so it's only physically impossible for him to open his eyes without causing unrestrained annihilation to everyone and everything around him. Same diff.

...Except for in that last AXM arc where I'm not totally sure what was going on there. Emma did him an off-switch, or somesuch?

I don't remember. Wasn't Jean able to telekinetically hold his optic blasts back, though?

No, that's an inference you made, my porcine friend. I wrote that he's dependant on the ruby quartz, not that his eyes are sealed shut.

Yeah, way back. She established a rapport between themselves as well.

I was wondering if somebody could clarify on the Aquaman/Pirahnas thing... Was that just a one-off when his powers were stolen and he gained that hook on his hand, or is it a permanent thing that his powers don't work with pirahnas?

If I remember correctly, only his communicative abilities were stolen, but he still retained his tough skin and other powers...

Wonder Woman's had a few weird ones. For a long time, if she was bound or tied up by a man, she'd lose all of her powers (well, she was created by a bondage fetishist). And the Golden Age WW would go berserk and basically turn into a prettier-looking Hulk if her bracelets were removed.

Now, perhaps if you had written "without them he cannot open his eyes and control his optic blasts," instead of using the word "or," then you might be correct in saying that it was only Corp's inference.

Well, if you really want to get into it...

Quote:
Cyclops - is completely dependant on ruby quartz glasses/visors;
In the first part of my original sentence, I referred to two different types of eyewear. Cyclops sometimes wears glasses which allow him to open his eyes, or a special visor that gives him the ability to focus his mutation for practical usage. The structure of the sentence pre semi-colon connotes "either/or" (meaning: glasses or visors but without using so many words), and puts glasses first, then visors. Therefore,
Quote:
...without them he cannot open his eyes or control his optic blasts.
the sentence following the semi-colon follows the same pattern. Thus, as I refer to glasses first, he cannot open his eyes (i.e. because the glasses contain them). Then, in reference to the aforementioned visors, or control his optic blasts, without them.

Regardless of this little grammatical disagreement, the Corp1's original bone of contention - that I somehow implied that it's physically impossible for Cyclops to open his eyes without the aid of special optical wear - I still don't see where he gets that from.

This is fun!

What you actually wrote does indicate that he is totally incapable of opening his eyes without his glasses/visors instead of him merely being afraid of opening his eyes without his eyewear.

That being said I think for the most part people familiar with the character would understand what you were trying to convey.
