That might be a bit too similar to Thor. Have the legend be only the king can use it, but actually be those of royal blood. this way Aquaman and Ocean Master can fight over it.

Possibly have it kept in Atlantis most of the time, only generally carried by the king in times of war. After all, if its a holy relic as well as a kingly symbol and mighty weapon, you probably shouldn't go carrying it around like a walking stick.

I just watch John Carter and that really how I want Aquaman to play out.
A loner, lost in his own world (Arthur/Orin on Earth) finds his purpose and destiny in another (after he arrives in Atlantis) |

I'd rather Arthur first go to Atlantis as a kid.

I know it wont ever see the light of day, but im seriously thinking of writing an Aquaman script. It's the summer, I have free time, I'm stuck in my other scripts, and idk I just see so much potential for Aquaman that is unfortunetly not being used in any medium even in comics

Yeah, I'd rather have him as a kid(maybe 12) so he can grow up in Atlantis.

I have a couple of ideas for an Aquaman movie, but I'm not as well versed in the character as I'd like to be. Are there any good Aquaman stories you all can reccomend?

Blackman: Yes it is. It looks very suitable for a live action adaption, it's perfect. Now certain people can't claim that Aquaman should be shirtless and have a beard. Even HIS "silly" suit can work. There's no limits of what can be achieved these days.
Marvel already managed to make Captain America's campy suit actually look good on-screen, something I had some fears wouldn't happen. Now I believe Aquaman and the other DC heroes to be the next step in the evolution of superhero films. (The hardest character to adapt suit-wise is Hawkman, I think. We have to wait some years until they figure out how to make him look cool. ) Last edited by Airwings; 06-08-2012 at 12:28 PM. |

I'd like to see someone go all out with the MOS suit and turn it into an Aquaman suit. Preferably without the gloves.

Aquaman should definitely take precedence over films like Wonder Woman or The Flash. DC already has the burden of looking like they're riding on the success of The Avengers with a Justice League movie, but coming with an Aquaman movie after a potential Marvel produced Submariner movie would kill DC's creative credibility in the eyes of the public IMO.

![]() And about Aquaman, I prefer the Young Justice costume the most. I'm not sure about the green gloves and green flippers. Golden gauntlets and barefoot looks more awesome to me.

With Hawkman(and even Aquaman) you just need a creative crew. Legion really did make use of the wings. Honestly cast this actor and call it a day.
Also I think the young justice costumes works better because it adds strength. Using his bare hands is more powerful then doing it gloves. Like Superman, he doesn't need armor. But there may be practical reasons since Aquaman tends to involve water. The actors hands are going to be prunes.

Seeing as how he's no longer in Thor, I think Josh Dallas would make a great Aquaman.
![]() ![]() The reason for this is that he has experience existing in both the human & fantastical worlds thanks to his role of Fandral in Thor. As well as "Prince Charming/David Nolan" on the show Once Upon a Time. He can do fantasy being as well as human being which is Aquaman. He's an amazing being, yet he's also human. I believe he was the first superhero to get married and the first to be a father. The world and character of Aquaman are just limitless. With the films that we have gotten there really is no excuse of, "That's not possible to do". As was said earlier, a John Carter like take could work if Warner/DC avoids the mistakes Disney made with Carter (Terrible Marketing, Spending money on things that didn't require money, not having recognized names, and characters who weren't memorable).

But a Hawkman adaption needs a bigger budget. When the superhero fights off bad guys, it should take place in a city and involve smashing of cars and everything. And Carter Hall's armour should look cool in daylight too, from every angle. The Smallville version looked dorky. |

That's another one! I know Dallas couldn't do Thor 2 due to his commitment to the TV series "Once Upon a Time", but I can see him taking Aquaman. There's a difference between being a supporting character and being the lead.

I disagree with the claim that a Namor movie would be detrimental to the success of an Aquaman movie and DC's credibility. First, the characterizations are different: Namor started as a hero, became a villain, and has consistently bounced back and forth between the two identities ( he was a jerk in Civil War and an even bigger one in AVX.) Aquaman, on the other hand, has been been absorbed into public consciousness through his numerous depictions as a member of the Justice League. And, in all fairness, Namor is somewhat of an obscure character, even though he is one of Marvel's oldest. Most of the GA have not heard of him, which is sad, considering his interesting arc.
Returning to Aquaman, the problem with adapting him is that it is going to be expensive creating an underwater wotld. Plus, the right creative team has to be able to design it right and treat it as a character in the script. At this point, all of the interested eyes for Aquaman are not on all on Marvel, but James Cameron, as well.... |

My pick for Aquaman is Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, best known for playing Jaime Lannister on Game of Thrones. Great actor who looks like the ideal Aquaman to me.
