X-Men as "Hot Dog Vendor" *1/2
Stan watches slack-jawed as a mutated man walks onto the beach. Felt kind of obligatory but at least he got to emote. Spider-Man as "Man at fair" ** Not a great cameo but the whole movie was basically a love letter to the writing of Stan Lee in the first place. Plus his appearance was supposed to be longer. Originally he was to pick a little girl up and carry her out of harms' way but he apparently had some trouble with that and by his own admission, it would have "turned the movie into a mini-series" Hulk as "Security Guard" * They team him with Lou Ferigno to kill two cameo birds with the same stone. It's cute but would two security night guards really walk around talking about how they can improve security? Is this their first day? Spider-Man 2 as "Man dodging Debris" (No critical rating available) I honestly don't remember this one. Daredevil as "Old Man at crossing" ** Nice reveal. Bright spot in a movie that was otherwise Daredevil. The Incredible Hulk as "Uncredited appearance" ** Meh. Fantastic Four as "Willie Lumpkin" ** Yeah, it's funny they cast him as Willie Lumpkin, so points for giving him a character with a name. But it was staged too showy and like Daredevil, I was sorry to even see him even associated with the movie. X-Men: The Last Stand as "Waterhose Man" ** Sounds like a rejected X-Men character. Well, at this point, his appearances ARE obligatory so it was nice they got it out of the way early. Spider Man 3 as "Man in Times Square" **1/2 Probably the most amount of diolouge for Stan. Too bad it was so cornball. 'Nuff said. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer as "Rejected Wedding Guest" **** Stan can't convince the bouncer that he's on the guest list. He's ejected for impersonating Stan Lee. Oh come on, it funny. Iron Man as "Man mistaken for Hugh Hefner" *** Here Stan portrays a man mistaken for... nevermind. It must be hard to work Stan into these cameos, this was a good one. Very clever. He did not appear in X-Men 2. He should have appeared in Punisher War Zone. Stan should have walked into a scene wearing a toolbelt saying; "Hello, I'm here to fix the--" Then he's shot in the face. |

Stan did not create the Punisher so I'm guessing that's why he wasn't in any of the Punisher movies. Anyways, I'd say his Iron Man appearance was his best one. That and the FF2 cameo despite it being a turrible, turrible film.

With no disrespect meant, can I say that I think the Stan Lee cameos are awful? I mean it pulls the story out of the reality the director is trying to establish and I just think that most of them are quite silly. I love Stan Lee and every once in a while I think could be cool, but every time.....I wish they wouldn't. That being said, keeping with the thread, I'll say "Iron Man" was probably the best. "Fantastic 4 pt. 2", the worst.

I don't think Stan's cameos take anyone out of the film at all, it's a nod to the fans and I'm sure it always gets the film cast excited when the creator is around.
My favorite cameo of his was when he was mistaken for The Heff in Iron Man. |

My favourite was Stan in IRON MAN too. Love seeing Stan in the movies, long may it continue.

His full spider-man one cameo was him selling glasses that they wore in "the X-Men" to some kids who say "Awesome!" and something else.

At least Stan's cameo in the first FF was a character from the comics. True his lines were originally meant for the doorman, and the entire Willie character was added during shooting at the suggestion of the Thing's make-up artist - but those moments would still have been in the movie and played by someone, so why not give them to Stan?

Personally, I think Stan's finest hour was his portrayal of "juror" in the TV movie classic "Trial of The Incredible Hulk" where he got to mouth the words; "Oh my god. Oh my god!"

Iron, FF, and FF2 were my favorite. Hes never pulled me out of a movie either. 2-3 seconds on screen mostly usually without lines except for Fantastic Four.
His Spiderman 3 cameo was cool too. He got to say Nuff Said |

I think Stan should have been casted as Uncle Ben in the SP movies.

Awful idea. I love Stan Lee as much as the next guy but he cant act. That's why the movies usually give him silent roles...

Wow, you're rating cameos? For God's sake dude. They're like one to five second appearances. What the hell did you expect? Not much else they could of done with him. And yeah, if he did have more than one line of diologue, it would divert from the story and look out of place.

Stan's greatest appearance, though, was in "Mallrats" giving Brodie the "Love be a vulture tonight" speech.
