Default Villain Game

Everybody is debating on which villains would work best in a potential Dark Knight sequel, and why certain villains would work while others would not. This thread is not to debate villains. My idea is to list villains, one at a time, and have everybody assume that that particular villain will be in the next movie for sure. Then, everybody could give their opinions on how the villain would work best in Nolan's Batman films. The most rediculous villains could be listed, I just want to see people turn bad ideas into possible good ones.

First villain: "Man-Bat"

I know it's a ridiculous idea. Lets see how imaginative we could be.
Have fun.

Seriously though, if Nolan announced tomorrow that he was using a character like Man-Bat we would all start making guesses as to how it would work. Nolan always tries to stay loyal to the actual "character" of a character, despite little things that he might alter about their physical appearances; for example, the Joker not having white skin. If Man-Bat was used, my guess would be that he is not an actual bat-creature, but that he takes Bruce Wayne's Batman idea a step further and gives himself the appearance of a real, giant bat. He could be like the "copy-cats" in TDK, except that he is successful in killing criminals, making Batman an even more wanted felon.

I would like to see Batman go up against Riddler or Mad Hatter next.

Mad Hatter I could see Nolan give a good script for him but that depends on a suitable story.

People are thinking Johnny Depp as Riddler? Maybe not a bad choice but I would suggest maybe Christopher Eccleston for Riddler and if not he could play a good Mad Hatter.

They may sound cartoonish but I could except a creepy Mad Hatter & a more calculating Riddler once given the Nolan seal of approval.

What would be a good story to keep Batman 3 similar to BB & TDK?

Then again we have not seen enough of Scarecrow yet. Surely Cillian Murphy deserves a bigger story or even used again as a side villain.

Yeah, pretty much. I think Nolan would work the deaf/serum angle too though. But instead of the side-affect of turning him into a Man-Bat, the serum increases rage, making Langstrom brutal and savage.

How about Clayface?

Look up Basil Karlo if you are unfamiliar. He was the original Clayface who was a B-movie actor driven mad at someone for remaking one of his films, thus he dons the mask of the villain he played in the movie in order to seek revenge.

How could we reinterpret this idea into Nolan's world? Just a madman who wears a mask. Is it deep enough to carry an entire film?

I like the idea of having multiple smaller villains on screen, "they'l be doubling up the rate this city's inhabitants are losing their minds", and having Batman having to fight so many different people and deal with so much. It would be different than the normal, one or two main baddies running the show. Thoughts? Arguments? Please, run wild my children

ok wayne enterprises with the super vision of lucious fox does a few more military weaponry designs and ideas so they look around for other scientis for a new way to make a weapon well fox find victor fries a scients who deals with different temperatures in nature and what not i dont know this is only a idea. well fox hires him and right off the bat he tells him about his ZDG (zero degree gun) that when fired it converts regular water into 20degree water and emits pressure liek a foam substance from it being so cold rendering the target un able to move and frozen

well fox not likign the idea saying that its not likely to ever be a reliable weapon he lets fries go from the project. enraged fries tells fox that he needs this work and his idea to go through so he can get the money to help find a cure for his wife who is deadly ill fox who says that he cant do it walks away and then fries attacks him takign his gun and tearing up the office as he leaves comes acroos some papers with a new armor suit to be made fries is nowhere to be found

This idea would work well with Bane as the main villain.

I like the idea of the Riddler.
I don't think Johnny Depp would play him mainly because so far almost all of Nolans actors are not the most famous/praised actors. I think Johnny slips into that category. I think he finds "Just Right" actors to play the roles. At first you question them like Heath Ledger???? Then you walk out like OMFG lets see it again!!!!! Famous actors have the tendencies to get so self absorbed that they start to lose there talent. So with Depp you could be like Sweet it's Johnny! We know he'll be good but walk out like That was crap! I think he is a very talented actor don't get me wrong but I think he is not likely.

The press made the man a joke by focusing on a single line in his letter, "I will be the man who unifies the Gotham Underworld, like some Crazy Quilt." Now he sits in prison being made fun of by the criminals. I see that kid Mclovin as this guy for somereason. He need to look like nothing important.

Catwoman is the anti-Batman. She is rich, and does her crimes for fun. It started by stealing from men she slept with, but soon it moved to more daring things. She does not use a grappling hook and zip across gotham, no she moves along roof tops, down fireescapes, and uses an unmarked car. However she starts to take a great interest in the Batman, and not only that she fixates on him. So she changes her MO a little and starts to wear a uniform, not too revealing, but it is designed to show off her curves rather then protect her. She becomes a rather "popular" criminal, she steals only small things and while women are furious, men feel an odd sense of pride over being a victim.

Riddler is the name of a very odd hacker who once moved around funds for the crime families of Gotham. He has massive OCD, but he found through therapy a way to control it not by movements but by words. He says Riddles, he constantly leaves clues for everything he does. With his access to mafia funds, and said mobsters going to prison or worse the Riddler is bored. He decides to find out who the Batman is. He may have already done it, he is jsut waiting for the right person to tell. Johnny Depp? Seems too much like a leading man for this, but he has that level of wierdness that works.

Blackmask may be a single person. Then again he may be various mobsters who have learned the value of staying secret. He is only seen behind a television screen with his face blacked out. To this man crime is a business, and for his busniess to work the Batman has to be gotten rid off. While just a voice, Bob Hoskins fits the bill as a villian, and as the voice for such a guy.

The Puppet Master.

In addition to suffering the hate of Gothamites for the atrocities he took the blame for, Batman must face a whole string of minor villians, culminating in the revelation that they have all been manipulated by the Puppet Master, and he is the true super villian that Batman must face. Along the way, one of the minor villians figures out (s)he is being manipulated, and tries to strike back at both the Puppet Master and Batman, and ultimately makes the sacrifice Batman needs to put away the Main Villian. In recognizing the sacrifice that the minor villian made Batman realizes that even the most hardened or deranged Gothamite is worth saving, and vows to continue on being their Dark Knight, saving them even though they don't always appreciate it. Throughout this whole ordeal the Gotham public has come to accept Batman, not necessarily worshipping him, but not riding his ass anymore either. They still don't appreciate him blowing up their cars and driving through their buildings because they are in the way, but they know he is trying to protect the greater good.

I would love to see the ventriloquist.
Also the idea of many crazy minor villans would be extremely interesting to pull off. It would be hard to do without making it getting campy or silly. With "realistic" superhero movies, you always have to justify why someone is wearing a mask/ adopting a wierd personality. But it would be so different from most other superhero movies (with their conventional one or two villans every movie.) It would just be hard for audiences to accept the villans without a backstory.

Nolan said he'd do another film if there was a story. The next story is the Robin story. Truth is Batman needs a Robin, because, as the Joker points out, Batman is just as crazy as the Joker. Robin is Batman's moral compass.

As for the movie? Something like Batman running around dealing with a bunch of crazies, being pushed to the edge from exhaustion, starts breaking his own morals here and there. He starts by breaking Crazy Quilt's legs and arms, then just straight-up tortures Poison Ivy for a cure to biological attack (etc...) maybe he starts to enjoy it. Finally as the ventriloquist is gunning down innocents, Batman doesn't gives up and kills Wesker in cold blood (or manslaughters him in clood blood). Cut to a teary-eyed Robin standing amidst the bloodshed. Batman is reminded of his own parents' deaths, and recants.
A story of redmeption
