Default Superman: The animated series "top ten episodes"

Here's to one of the greatestest animated shows ever created! I've always felt that STAS never really got all the recognition it deserved. I've always been a fan of the character. However, it was this show that really turned me into a fan! Since Superman The Movie, with Chris Reeve, I've never seen Supes given as much homage and justice as in this show. Not to mention the on target preformances by Tim Daly, Dana Delany, Clancy Brown, and all the rest who contributed their voice talents. Oh, and the stories! Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, and company took one dimentional long-time Superman villians, turning then into fresh multi-complex individuals. The animation was perfect and the storylines.. "INCREDIBLE and ABASORBING". Anyway, I do hope that there's someone out there that loves and respects this all too short lived show as much as I do. Normally, I'd take the honors of listing the show's top ten episodes first. However, I'm interested in your choices as well. So before listing my personal top ten, I hope that someone, other than myself, will first do the honors first. I'll be checking back and thanks.

These are not in any order...

The Late Mr Kent was a great episode to see how being Superman all of the time would affect Clark.

Fun and Games and Obsession made Toyman an interesting villain to me... To the point I wish he were more similar to that in the comics. I really love the Toyman episodes.

Ghost in the Machine gave us the most on Mercy Graves, plus the way they followed up with that (intentional or not) In Justice League really blew my mind. It is an overlooked Braniac episode.

Legacy (both parts) was an EPIC way to end the series

Knight Time was good as well as we see how Superman thinks Batman acts (putting his cape up like dracula) and it is Superman out his his element.

The Apokolips... Now! (both)

I'm unsure whether to mark the two part episodes as two episodes or not.

I enjoy the team-up episodes, and ones with Brainiac.

Knight Time is my all-time favorite, though.

I enjoyed The Late Mr. Kent. Any ones with Batman involved were awesome as well.

I have to say this is my favourite of all the DCAU cartoons, it was easily the most conistents and Tim Daly is perfect as Clark Kent/Superman IMO.

My favourite episodes, well I'll list them in order of the seasons (as they are released on DVD:

Season 1:

The Last Son of Krypton - as a whole is just a brilliant retelling of the origin
The Way of All Flesh - First appearance of Mettallo, this was actually the first time I really liked Mettallo. I had first seen him in the Man of Steel comic books and wasnt very impressed by him. Malcolm McDowell brought the character to life for me and this version is the definitive one IMO like many of TAS versions.
Stolen Memories - I am a sucker for Brainiac episodes and this is one of the very best
Livewire - I just loved this episode, i think Livewire was such a great creation for TAS, was suprised that she was made just for TAS, she seemed like such a classic villain

Season 2:

Identity Crisis - first appearance of Bizzarro, one of my favourite Superman villains
Brave New Metropolis - what an amazing episode, very reminiscent of Red son
Ghost in the Machine - my favourite Brainiac episode, genius, who knew this would lay foundations for the Lexiac plot in JLU.
World' Finest - its Batman and Superman enough said
The Late Mr. Kent - just a great episode

Season 3:
Apokolips...Now! Pt's 1 and 2 - Amazing two-parter, shock ending too. Supermans biggest threat is clearly Darkseid and its proven in this episode
Knight Time - Batman and Superman again but alot more fun, played for laughs at times too but it works, plus Brainiac turns up again
New Kids in Town - The Legion and a young Superman in smallville, just a brilliant episode
In Brightest Day... - Green Lantern I loved this episode, just brilliant
The Demon Reborn - Superman and Batman again, no need to say anymore
Legacy Pts 1 and 2 - in my opinion the best episode(s) of any animated show ever, this was a brilliant end to the series, couldn't have asked for more and finaly Superman whoops Darkseids butt

BH/HHH your list is perfect! As far as In Brightest Day goes I loved the way they combined elements of Hal and Kyle.

The Late Mr. Kent was awesome...and the one w/ Metallo.

Maybe cause some are too young, but the Superman series from 1988 CBS was the predecessor to BTAS and the Superman show-it only last a season, but it was aimed at the older audience. Next time I'm at a show I'm finally getting the DVD.

Thanks

Yeah I liked that too, its strange but it never bothered me that they skipped over Hal Jordan, even though he is my favourite GL.

Thanks for the fine list, friend. Truly, a hard list to argue with. I too am a great fan of "Livewire". A great villianess, created for the show, that doesn't get half the credit she deserves. A couple of other episodes I would add in are "Feeding Time" and "The Way Of The Flesh". I love what they did with re-vamping these villians. Especially "Metallo". Malcolm McDowell's voice talents captured the character's spirit so well. What can I say? I loved everything they did with this series. Instead of starting this post of top ten best, perhaps it would have been easier on everyone to go with top two least. Anyways, it's nice knowing I'm not the only big fan of this memorable series. Thanks for everyone's input.
P.S. I've been a long-time comic collector. However, it was this series that got me tuned into Jack Kirby's "New Gods". Darkseid has to be the greatest villians ever.... "PERIOD"!

Actually, when he is fighting Sinestro, and they are in the airfield, check the name on the plane he gets slammed against.

I do like both of those but they arent really ones I would watch over and over. I do love how it served a purpose for the Batman Beyond episodes "The Call".

Yeah I do like feeding time and the Way of All Flesh is definitley a classic I just didnt want to go too overboard with my list. I probably should have added Way of All Flesh though. EDIT: have added it to the list, I liked Feeding Time but just isnt one of my favourites.

Yeah I really liked that two-parter thought it was the best introduction to Supergirl I have seen on-screen and maybe just in general.

I even like the episode Unity which isnt very popular I know but theres something very fun about it.

My mistake. I said "Way Of The Flesh" when the actual title is "Way Of All Flesh". Just wanted to be a little more specific.
