The Official Marvel Recommendations Thread

Why would you think Marvel is ending the Thor series? It's been in the top ten sellers almost every month an issue has come out.

But if you want to look into other good Marvel titles with a classic feel, I'd recommend:

The Incredible Hercules
Captain Britain and MI-13
Captain America
Guardians of the Galaxy
Nova
The Immortal Iron Fist
The upcoming run by Dan Slott on Mighty Avengers
The upcoming Agents of Atlas series

^ Out of curiosity.. if you'd buy all these titles, how much would you have to pay..?

I think about $25. One or two of them got bumped up to $3.99, but I'm not sure which ones, so it'd be like $24 to $28.

Geez-us! Are we getting these recommendation threads about week now??!!?? Maybe they need to combine all these damn things, and Hot Topic it at the top. Just going back two pages, you can see two threads, "Help me Marvel fans(what books to buy)" and "What Marvel books are worth reading?," not to mention every page has a Bought/Thought thread that lets you know what people like.

Too bad Sacred Invasion was about 100% better than Thor is. Ya know, because stuff happens in it at reasonable pace?

That's a good point and something I've thought of before, but there are so many of them that I didn't want to hunt all of them down to merge. But I guess I'll do it now.

I'd say Mighty Avengers by Slott if you're looking for something with a classic feel.

Can't go wrong with Cap,Daredevil,Hercules or Iron Fist.

I'm on such an Elektra kick right now since reading Wolverine: Enemy of the State. That is one badass story and Elektra is ****ing awesome in it --

--so can anyone here recommend any awesome Elektra stories?

But is that the real Elektra or the Skrull?

Frank Miller's run on DD had some good Elektra stuff, like her death from Bullseye (amazing issue) and her later ressurrection by the Hand.

Nah, that was the Skrull. It was, what, less than 6 months before Skrullektra was killed and revealed? We saw that Elektra was replaced pretty early in the invasion.

Secondly, Incredible Hercules, Nova, Mighty Avengers, Agents of Atlas, Captain America, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy, aaaaannnnddd that's about it for now. All awesome, all some of the best books in comics today. Too bad you wont read them though.

...I've wanted to check out Agents of Atlas and Guardians of the Galaxy...and Iron Fist...I'll start with those are there certain issues I should start with, can I just pick them up and not be confused or do I need to know whats been happening in the MU?

I can prove without a doubt that it was NOT a Skrull.

Elektra died in Wolverine: Enemy of the State and was ressurected by the hand. If a Skrull Elektra died, she would have turned all Skrully.

Not to mention that the Elektra in EotS would've killed Echo.

Agents of Atlas is just starting next month, so you can start with #1. Or you could get the trade of the mini-series from a year or two ago, which will give you some background on the Agents and show you how they got to their current status quo. The only thing you really need to know going into the ongoing series is that Norman Osborn is in charge of all the USA's superhuman assets now and the Agents of Atlas are covertly using the Atlas Foundation to strike back against him.

You can pick Guardians up from about 2 or 3 issues prior to the most recent one. You'll have questions, I'm sure, but people around here can clear things up pretty easily for you.
