I have to disagree strongly with you on Harry Gregson-Williams -- his music for Wolverine was just white noise IMO. For the life of me I can't remember any of the music in the film, and that was right after I left the midnight showing. Say what you want about the rest of the X-Men scores, but at least there was some noteworthy music in all three of the movies (that climatic scene where Jean levitates Logan to save Rogue in the first pic; the main theme in X2; and the Jean/Dark Phoenix climax in X3).

Gregson-Williams has done some wonderful scores, but his X-Men work was just phoned in. And the score clips of IM2 make me think John Debney leaning too far to temp-tracking Ramin Djawadi's score from the first film in his own work.

I love Powell's score too, I actually have the entire 2CD sets of each score for the X-Men. I actually think (funnily enough) that X3 had the 3rd best score.

Some of the tracks sound quite Robocop-esque.

Anyone familiar with the Robocop score knows this is a good thing.

It's every bit of music heard in the movie, with alternates if we're lucky. A single disc could be up to 70/80 minutes, or only 45 minutes of music depending.

Debney recorded the Iron Man 2 score in Air Lyndhurst and Abbey Road Studios in London with session musicians, so re-use fees aren't an issue. If the score CD isn't a 2-CD release, then I'm positive it'll end up being a 70/80 minute release.

Especially if the theme sounds like Robocop's themes... Or is atleast as great & rememberable.

I'm bummed out that the score wont be out until July, but we're getting the AC/DC IM2 album tommorow at least.

I need to check the track listing on that one. I have a few AC/DC albums including one of their live albums with a lot of songs on it. Not sure if this will be worth buying.

edit: Just checked tracks on Amazon, i'll be passing on this but it's a nice starting point for people just now getting into them.

I found a speed drawing of Iron Man. Somehow the music that plays during is a track from iron man 2.

im very impressed. this score sounds way better than the first and Whiplash's theme sounds dark. I love it.

Hate to be a downer, but no, not really. I mean, I didn't hate it or anything, but there were (as far as I could tell) no real discernible themes, nor did any carry over from the first film (and I had read at least some of it would). I guess the main theme from the first movie might have been alluded to during the race scene (of all places), but the sound was drowned out by the racing sound effects either way.

I really liked the bit used for when Tony suits up into his suitcase armor, but it was never re-used or alluded to again.

I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but you barely hear the score in the movie. The sound effects overshadow it too much. The only tracks you can hear are the opening credits, Nick Fury's first appearence, and...that's about it.

At first I wasn't too fond of Ramin being replaced. I liked debney, don't get me wrong, I just wanted Djawadi more.

Now I don't know which score I liked more. they were both great, and as an AVID fan of IM1's score I noticed 3-4 themes carried over from IM1 into IM2. Job well done John, can't wait to snag your score July 7th

As a music composition major, I can tell you that some of the best scores are the ones you don't notice.
