in the movie, when joker was burning the money, he told that guy (keep forgetting his name) this town is mine now
then i was looking at the Dominos Pizza TDK trailer, I saw that version and was blown away, i thought that would be in the movie

Wow, that was really cool. Love the hand gesture he does when he says it. Alot better than the "This is my city" with the shot from the back of his head.

Haven taken a few film classes, it is always interesting to see why a Director took one scene, over another.

The interesting part, one scene may look ridiculous to us, having seen several others; but when the Director explains his or her choice, it makes sense - most of the time.

True.

But one reason, logically, he has in his corner, is sound bites/sounds retakes.

Ledger was not available to do so, obviously. Simply, his choice could have been one scene, over a few others, because the sound was better.

I'm sure he took several angles and takes. Possibly, the reason why we got "the back of the head," was because the best sound/take didn't match the best scene/take.

I personally liked the third version better.

"this is my city now!"

which is like a combination of those two.

I'm guessing that wasn't chosen because it doesn't flow very well from the previous line...

"Tell your men they work for me now, This town is mine now"

If you can't remember the Chechen's name, you fail tbh.

I enjoyed the movie version best. "This is MY city" sounds better, but the trailer gesture was really good.

This is by far my favourite trailer of TDK. Its music and editing is so much darker than the rest of the trailers. I also love the part where the joker says "does it depress you, how alone you really are"
"you had plans, look where that got you"
In the movie, he is adressing Gordon and Dent respectively but in the trailer he is clearly adressing Batman. You can see Bruce without the cowl on the couch and then staring at Dent holding hands with Rachel. It's so sad.

Anybody got the video in HD download?

Edit: I was trying to find the trailers thread and its impossible. Even the batcave thread is lost somewhere. Why the hell did they unsticky those threads? The batcave especially was the most helpful. What the hell was so wrong with some stickies?

The most haunting TDK movie trailer I've ever seen. The tone and the music are so different to all the others. This one gives me chills.

And the scene where the Joker and the Chechen are staring each other out in front of the burning money, at the end? Imagine if they'd left that in. Incredible.

I think this is why Nolan succeeds where many other directors fail. For example, the shot with both the Chechen and Joker right in his face in front of the burning cash looks epic and under any other circumstance would warrant being in the movie. But the way the scene plays out in the movie is so quick it shows Joker's unrelenting attitude with dispatching the Chechen. It happens in like a minute. Nolan never pads out a scene with fancy shots that are a detrimental to the characters in them, which is why many of the shots that seem so cool in the trailer never make the final cut.

Valid point. It probably wouldn't have worked in the film in context to the scene, although it would've been bloody amazing to see that shot on the big screen.

Watching the rare trailers (like this one) is so exciting, seeing all the unused shots/alternate takes. Nolan, you genius, you.
