Actually, they were speedos.

No, it wasn't drastic per se but I hated the small "S", the crewneck collar with the cape stuffed down in it all funny, the shower curtain cape...

Speaking for myself, I know that I probably won't get what I want when it comes to CA's look 100%. That's being realistic. But I can gurantee those who prefer the Ultimate version won't get all that they want either.

Marvel's not dumb; they will try and appease both sides of the argument. As to what is tweaked remains to be seen and that's what holds my concern.

Well it doesn't really matter, that movie sucked anyway lol.

Yeah, I know... I have faith that they're going to make the right choice though... They've got alot riding on Cap, so they'll put as much effort as they can into costume and casting and whatnot.

Let's just hope. I'm betting you are right.
I am so anxious for some official news on this flick. Then maybe a little bit of all this speculation & arguing back and forth for this suit or that, this actor or that one will fade. I enjoy reading all of your opinions, but I'd rather have something more concrete to go on instead of passionately arguing with each other when right now we know absolutely "zip" about what direction it's going to go.

Well passionate arguing will have to do until then man lol. And even once the movie is out and everyones seen it, the internet is still the home of passionate arguing.

Personally, I love the passionate arguing amongst Cap fans. I know that many aren't going to agree with my way of thinking about the costume but the same with me on their views too. Can't help but respect that and deal with it.

But I will feel alot better once this project starts rolling officially into motion and spews out some news for us. It's overdue.

^ Agreed.
I'm just starting to get frustrated with the lack of news and all the speculation is just compounding it. I can see where everyone is coming from though. We are all in the same boat.

Well whatever the case, we know the costume is gonna bear at least some resemblance to Caps costume... To be honest, I would even be happy with just camo pants and a shirt, if it was sold the right way... Good casting and the right vision for the film is far more important to me than the costume.

I wouldn't go so far as the camo pants and shirt idea, but I'm onboard for everything else that you said above Wolvie.

Just making the point lol. If someone had shown me the x-men costumes for the Bryan Singer movies in isolationg I would have gagged, but the way they were sold to me within the movie, I just ate it up. It depends how well they include it in the package.

I think that Xmen had to be sold as a group in unison to non-comic book fans who went to see the movies - hence them all wearing black leather. It would've been somewhat of a distraction for many.
Their costumes are just too individual and all over the place to have been taken seriously by a certain faction. I didn't like it really but I could set my fanboy on hold and digest the change for the sake of the films.

That being said, I would LOVE to see a Wolverine movie while he's wearing the brown and tan getup.

Cap's clothes, however, are iconic and symbolic; they are recognizable to many who haven't taken the time to read an issue but know who he is on the spot. To deviate from his overall classic look much would be no less than disappointing.

Leave the meth alone, my friends... 616 is the only way to go here.

I'm a huge fan of the 616 costume as well, but personally I think he shouldn't get that costume until the avengers movie. We already know Stark has created a prototype round shield for him, and that could be a really cool moment in the avengers, when he gets his new costume and shield for the first time...

As for WWII, I think they can afford to take some creative liberty with that, as long as we get the tradish Cap costume after he thaws out

yea it always sucks when we are in the pre production stage of the film, before any clues on costumes/casting and all that. Now yea hopefully marvel sees when you stick more closely to the source materials the fans enjoy the film and get good word of mouth going for non fans to see a film, and then with the rating marketing/promotions that will also get the non fans butts into the seats. As for costume like i said before personally i agree the modern 616 look should be saved for avengers and we should get something more ultimates ww 2 suit with maybe a few tweaks to maybe throw in a few 616 elements to it and bam.

And I would guess (this is speculation) that they'll probably go along with the Ultimate idea, of having a different costume for WWII Cap and Modern Cap... Not saying I think they'll use the Ultimate designs, but we'll see. And lets face it, i know alot of people hate the Ultimate universe, but Ultimate Caps origin would be great for a movie, and they portrayed the story in quite a nice and dramatic way... i reckon that ultimate WWII costume without the pointy nose eye goggles would be fine.
1-the "Superman Returns" costume didn't work for me for a NUMBER of reasons, among them the muted color scheme & diminished "S". Superman is supposed ot be a symbol, a bright beacon of hope. Not a dark & gloomy stalker who seems ashamed of what he is.
2-nobody is suggesting a "Phantom in blue". I don't even consider Cap's comic book costume to be spandex. It hasn't looked like spandex in years. But the "Ultimate" design is just too ugly; too far-removed from the image of a superhero & too excessively grounded in the "military" element. And Cap, too, is supposed to be a bright, shiny symbol. Now plenty can be done, IMO, to tweak the look & make it plausible for the big screen.
