The "Ultimate Marvel" RPG

This game is similar to the Marvel RPG, only based off of Ultimate continuity.

RULES:

• Players can choose any hero in the Ultimate Marvel Universe. Players who have proved themselves as good RPer's will also have the option to Ultimize a character, and/or take up a second character. No God-Like characters.
• Everyone exists in the Ultimate Marvel Timeline. No 616 or other alternate items may be used.
• No Killing. Unnamed faceless NPC's may be killed, but not comic characters. Someone else may want to take up the character, or they may be important to another story.
• You can go anywhere on Earth, or travel off planet, but do so within your characters means.
• You are your character, so act like it. Talk like them, use there dialouge. Do not exaggerate your powers, or pop-up here and there without explanation.
• Several stories can be going at once, and you have the freedom to interact with other characters.
• No Time Travel.
• You must post at least once every two weeks, though it is preferred that you post more. If you go two weeks without a post, you will be notified by a GM through a Private Message and an OOC post. If, within 48 hours, you do not reply to the PM with an explanation or post in the IC thread, your character will be up for grabs. You may reapply for your character, though others may want to play also.
• You must have at least 50 posts on the Hype boards to be eligible to play
• And, of course, all regular rules of the Hype apply.
• Have fun.

Character you would like to play: Steve Rogers, Captain America.

Powers and a brief description of the character in proper English:
After signing up for a mysterious experimental procedure, timid Steve Rogers was injected with the Super Soldier formula. Transformed into the legendary Captain America, Rogers was an invaluable part of the Allies' victory in WW2. On his last mission, Captain America sacrificed himself for the lives of thousands, falling into the freezing Atlantic. Recently, his frozen body was found and brought back to life. Adjusting to life in the new millenium, Captain America now helps the world alongside the Ultimates, with his superhuman strength, speed, agility and stamina.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:
1. I loved playing him for the period of time I did so.
2. I got a lot of kudos for my portrayal of Cap, so I must have been doing something right.
3. After I started playing him, Steve became somewhat of a poster boy for giving characters a chance for me. I disliked him to begin with, but I've now grown to love the guy.

What can you bring to this game? A dedicated player experienced with the character. Hopefully, plenty of badassery and a good leader for the Ultimates.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: I can post quite often a day when interacting with other players.

The world I fought for...the world I died for...

It's in danger once again.

It's turning into a world where gangsters can rule nations and almost rule cities, in which hotels and apartment houses and celebrated restaurants are owned by men who made their money out of brothels, in which a screen star can be the finger man for a job, and the nice man down the hall is a boss of the numbers racket; a world where a judge with a cellar full of child pornography can send a man to jail for jaywalking, where the mayor of your town may have condoned murder as an instrument of money-making, where no man can walk down a dark street in safety because law and order are things we talk about but refrain from practicing; a world where you may witness a holdup in broad daylight and see who did it, but you will fade quickly back into the crowd rather than tell anyone, because the holdup men may have friends with long guns.

A world where people have abilities. Godlike abilities that allow them to do things the most brilliant of writers could never even think of. And some of these people use these abilities to destroy. To steal. To murder.

It's a world where the American Dream is in danger each and every day.

Powers and a brief description of the character in proper English: Clint has an excellent aim that he transfers into archery and marksmanship. He was a member of the Ultimates Black Ops team until recently when he was promoted into the limelight. He has been seeing his teammate Natasha Romanova.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:
1. He's one of my favourite characters.
2. I played him last time.
3. I'm awesome.

Clint stood up and made his way to where Fury stood, taking his place. He looked up and the other Ultimates could see how red his eyes were and the five o'clock shadow that covered his face.

"I met Natasha on my first day at SHIELD. From what I could make out she was fairly new as well. Surrounded by veterans and hard faced men that constantly smoked cigars, we became good friends. The very best of friends. We worked together and she saved my life many times. We relied on each other to survive. She was always there if I ever needed her. I always thought I didn't. I was...wrong to say the least. She was a...she was...Natasha was beautiful. In every sense of the word, she was gorgeous. She was funny...if you knew her. She was smart, she was very very smart. And she was...she was normal. That's not something you find with the people I work. My colleagues are all World War II veterans, super genii with armour, people who can shrink or grow, the incest twins with superspeed and magic. She was the closest to normal I could, or ever would want to get. I was at the gates of hell and she was the one that brought me back," he said, and bowed his head again as tears started to fall.

"That's the thing about us mortals. We're just candles floating around in the darkness, and our flames flicker so briefly it's almost non-existant. We try so hard to make a difference and at the end of the day what have we to show for it? A lump of granite and a rotting carcus. But not you Natasha, not you. You deserve better. You always deserved better. You and I, we weren't able to move mountains with our minds or turn the world backwards but we were special. You were special. You saved me, and I will always remember you. I....I don't know how to say...words can't describe what you meant to me...what you mean to me. Sleep well Natasha...I love you, then and now. I always will," he whispered. He raised his head and forced a brief smile, chuckling falsely.

"And Thor. Well, I don't think this is the way Thor would want us marking his passing. I want it known that I voted for lots of mead and many hearty wenches, that's what I think he would've wanted. Well, Thor....what to say about him. Thor was a good man. He made me laugh. A lot. He was the team powerhouse. I honestly don't know what we're gonna do without him. However he died, however it went down - I'm sure it was for a good cause in absolute style. Rest well brother," he said, tapping the empty coffin affectionately.

In short Uatu saw that the X-men would fall at the hands of Onslaught and the other heroes would be slaughtered before they would be able to muster a counterattack. Uatu, not bearing the sight of his beloved Earth destroyed, uses what power he had left to revert most of the ugly past that lead to this disaster. The new cut off points are:

USM: Post Clone Saga
UXM: Magnetic North + The Apoc arc and Cable arc from the previous vol.
UFF: Frightful
Ultimates: Gods and Monsters.

Actually we decided on going with the comic's Clone Saga. As for the Thunderbolts they were sadly a victim of the reboot. Though if you want to keep them a team I'm sure we can work something out.

Screen Name: Master Bruce

Character you would like to play: Ultimate Daredevil

Powers and a brief description of the character in proper English: Though blinded, Matthew Murdock's remaining senses were heightened to a superhuman degree as a result of being hit with a radioactive isotope as a child. Training himself to work with his disability, Murdock found that by combining his accute sense of hearing with his sense of touch, he could create an inner radar that would allow him to see the world around him better than he ever could with sight. Trained in gymnastics, aswell as boxing, judo, and other street level martial arts, Murdock's list of skills only grew, making him more than a formidable opponent by the time he became The Man Without Fear.

Daredevil works as a vigilante to right wrongs that the justice system can't. By day, he is a lawyer and attorney-at-law for the underprivileged. But by night, he is an unforgiving avenger, taking his clients' cases and turning them into crusades for vengeful justice. He operates primarily out of New York City's Clinton area, known better to it's locals as 'Hell's Kitchen'.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1. Daredevil has always been one of my favorite characters. It seemed like a no-brainer to apply for him any time that I did before. And right now is no exception.

2. With the RPG rebooting, I have a chance to really dig into Daredevil's comic book history and pull out some of it's real gems, modernizing them for an Ultimate continuity.

3. There's honestly no character I'd rather play in this game.

What can you bring to this game? I've been reading Daredevil comics for years, so I know that I can bring a knowledge of the character's personality and skills to the table for interaction. I've also made a considerable reputation for playing slightly, if not outright psychotic characters, so I can bring a little of that into my portrayal of the character's Ultimate changes.

His name is Matthew Micheal Murdock. He was born a catholic to a family with strict values and even stricter morals. His mother left him. His father was unrightfully taken from him. To add insult to injury, so was his sight. But even so, he sought out true justice, and in the process, he found love again. But circumstance and morals prevented that love from fruition. And by the end of his pain and his torture, this young man was turned into something else entirely. You could say he became a devil of a person.

"Put the girl down."

Right now, however, this devil is in quite the predicament.

It had all started a week ago, when a young beaten and battered woman stumbled into the Law Offices of Nelson and Murdock. She was frightened, scared... and Matt had picked up on that long before she was able to finally tell her story to him. She had once belonged to a religious cult of hoods within the neighborhood, and served under a man named Zebediah Killgrave, who the cult believed was the reincarnation of Christ. But when the young woman had stumbled onto a secret about Killgrave... He had ordered the cult to beat her, convincing them that she was an agent of the devil come to smite him from his ruling. The truth was, Killgrave wasn't reincarnated. He was just a greedy metahuman who had received a set of powers in a random accident, much like Matt. But unlike Matt, he used his powers to gain wealth and fortune, convincing each member of his cult to trust him with their bank accounts in return for everlasting life. The reason he had the woman beaten was to keep her too scared to tell that to the other cult members.

Of course, hearing this story this sickened Matt, and he accepted to defend the young woman in a lawsuit against Killgrave. But the case ended once the woman agreed to drop the charges. Knowing this to be odd, Matt discreetly tracked the woman down, and discovered that she had rejoined the cult which called themselves "The Purple Men". Changing from Matt Murdock into his masked vigilante identity of The Daredevil, He managed to sneak into the warehouse that The Purple Men occupied. But being spotted by one of it's members, His cover had been blown, forcing him to act in a more forceful manner. Which leads to the situation now, where Killgrave has Daredevil's former client as a hostage, with a gun to her head. Of course Daredevil can't let Killgrave murder the woman, but the one thing that separates the three is the cult itself. And picking up on their movements with his radar, Daredevil soon realizes that they're about to attack. Which isn't good, needless to say.

"No thanks,", Killgrave responds, still holding the gun. "I think I'll have them kill you instead."

For a moment, Daredevil takes this as a bluff. But it's his mistake, as The Purple Men begin to charge him. Widening his eyes, Daredevil quickly leaps into the air and fires the grapnel of his club to the ceiling, swinging above the cult as he makes a desperate attempt to attack Killgrave. But to no avail, as Daredevil feels a sharp tug at his leg. Dropping from the club, Daredevil spins, kicking the nearest Purple Man across the face and freeing himself from it's grip. Landing amongst the crowd of them, Daredevil takes his other club, and begins to fight them off, one by one. But as he does, Daredevil can't help but think uncertainty. Is this really happening?

It did seem rather out of the ordinary. A man dressed as a devil fighting a cult of religious extremists dressed in purple robes, being controlled by an evil man that they believed to be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ. As Daredevil thought about it, he realized something else. It was a bit of an irony, too. But maybe he could use this to his advantage.

"Stop!", Daredevil shouted to the attacking group. "Just think about it for a moment. He's misleading you all... Don't you understand?"

"SHUT UP!", Killgrave shouted back, angrily. "He's the one trying to mislead you, my children! For he wears the garb of Satan himself! He is most desperate to turn you against me! But do not listen to his cries of convincement, for they are the path to eternal sin! The only way to redeem thyselves is to fight this spawn of the devil back! KILL HIM!"

Daredevil gritted his teeth, as his radar begin to send him signals of the cult's continuing attack, despite his attempt to clear their minds. Well. That went nowhere.
