I know that Josh is attached to do Jonah Hex and I always believe that an actor should have a good balance between smaller films and blockbusters.

But I'm weary about Josh attaching himself to Men In Black. I don't know about it..

Eh, I'm pretty "meh" about this too. If they can recapture the magic of the first one I'm all for it, but I have a lot of doubts with that. Who knows though.

Usually I try not let a bad sequel ruin it for me. For example, I'm looking forward to Pirates 4.

But MIB 2 was such a turn off for me that I can't help it but to go 'meh'.

The second was bad, the first was awesome. Hopefully they're smart. It took five years for a ****** sequel. I hope we won't altogether be waiting eight or nine years for a third ****** one.

I really really think the main reason why this movie is getting the fast track is because Sony doesn't have a whole lot going on next Summer because of their..Spider-Man drama.

And i really think it between greenlighting Ghostbusters 3 or MIB 3, and MIB 3 was more plausible at this point. yes, I don't think Ghostbusters 3 is happening. Or at least, not for 2011.

After Spider-Man 4 fell apart, suddenly there was legit talk of getting Ghostbusters 3 going. Sony desperately needed a tentpole for their summer lineup. Now that they've filled that slot with Men In Black 3, that kills Ghostbusters 3.

Basically it was summer 2011 or never.

i see, I see. I would have prefered Ghostbusters 3 but at the sametime, deep down, it's probably gonna be a film like Indiana Jones 4 where my future kids will be like 'huh' after they see it after the previous films. Think Godfather Part 3.

"Why is everyone so old in THIS one"?

from what i understand the only reason this movie is made is not because of money but because the studio didnt have a tentpole for 2011.

so you think the script will be rushed to be ready for filming andcould suck because of this?

“Men in Black 3” is officially a go.Columbia has signed deals with Will Smith to return as alien-chasing government operative Agent Jay, as well as director Barry Sonnenfeld, producers Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald.

The movie will be in 3D and will open May 25, 2012, not the usual July 4 weekend date that Smith’s past summer blockbusters have occupied.

Tommy Lee Jones is in negotiations to reprise his role as Smith’s partner, Agent Kay, while Josh Brolin is in talks to star as a young version of the character (most of the action takes place in 1969).

Brolin’s involvement was rumored back in December, though his desire, as well as Smith’s participation, depended on the quality of the script. Etan Cohen ("Tropic Thunder") wrote the script, which has been going under a polish by David Koepp. A story meeting is scheduled for this afternoon to keep ironing out the kinks.

Backend dealmaking also protracted the negotiations in Columbia’s attempt to make a third installment of its billion-dollar franchise.

The first “MIB,” released in 1997, was a surprise over-performer, grossing $589 million worldwide, while the second movie, released in 2002, took in $441.8 million.

if they start in september then this means more then one year of post production. it looks like some people in hollywood learned that not every movie needs to be rushed for a realese date.

Hopefully it's worth the wait. I don't want to be saying, "Ten years and we get this?" like the second one with five.

Holy crap that just made me realize. It'll be ten years since the second film.

**** man.

Wow, 10 years. I'm trying not to think of the timeline, because I'm not excited for this movie, and I don't want to be saying, "This is what we get after a decade?" either. I like Barry Sonnenfeld a lot (love the first Men in Black, Get Shorty, and his Addams Family movies - and Pushing Daisies, which he was an executive producer on), but it's been quite a dry spell for him as a film director. So I really want to like this movie.

And I have two questions: 1) Do we know who's writing, and 2) This will be shooting in 3-D, right?

I'm excited for this because I'm hoping it is way better than the second and can be more like the first. Glad Agent Smith and Agent Jones are back.
