I was was thinking about the real life implacations of DC superpowers:
In Real life , the Flashes would just age and die with in a couple of hours. Also, Life must be pretty tough as a speedster. It feels like someone is taking hours to get a word out, and there's a meeting in five minutes? it feels like your waiting for days days. which reminds me, also in real life a speedster would have to go to sleep once an hour or something like that becuase they'll tire quickly. And they'll have to eat almost constantly because they metabolize things at light speed. They'd be in and out of the bathroom.....getting drinks every 3 seconds all because of a high speed body. Even with speed they wouldn't have time to do anything else. And if a speedster got diabetes? They'd have to have an insulin pump which pumps a gallon per minute, otherwise they'd shrivel up and die by the end of the day. That is, if they hadn't aged and died with in a couple of hours. |

There's just no reason to assume that the aging prosses is any faster for the Flashes. Quote:

The other Flashes seemed to be able to generate their speed with a normal metabolism. So Wally needed to eat and rest differently while Barry and Jay did not. Quote:
The extra running alone could burn up the extra surger in the blood.

I seem to remember an issue of Flash where Wally almost went insane waiting in a line at the bank...I could be wrong, though.

Interesting topic. I think the speedsters currently just tap into the speed force. From what I can tell, it's like a switch. Sometimes they switch into the speed force unconsciously like when Wally had Linda's father come over for dinner and the conversation seemed like it was going to last forever.
A flip side to that is when Wally was kid Flash, he was able to stare at Wonder Woman for just a second, but it really lasted 1 hour for him in his "own time". Wonder Woman caught on eventually, about Wally's ability to make things last longer than they should due to his speed. But that was before the speed force was introduced if I'm not mistaken. About the metabolism, something similar to that happened to Wally and Bart Allen. Wally was stabbed by Deathstroke in Identity Crisis and he speed about his blood cell count to heal his wound. Bart also did the same thing when he was shot in the knee cap by Deathstroke in Teen Titans. These are all post speed force abilities. I really think the vibrating so fast to look invisible and to vibrate through walls or doors are cool tricks. So is being two places at once trick, like when Wally and the Flash were in the same room at once, he just quickly dressed as Wally and the Flash super fast. |

See thats the problem right there, leave real life and comics seperate, and you're enjoy them more.

Nobody ever thinks about the effect high speed flying has on one's eyelids either. And their clothes

Assuming you're trying to be more scientific about it, friction is going to be the deadly force here. For him to go that fast is okay, I guess, but it's gonna suck to stop.

Meteors that hit the ground are cool to the touch. Friction occurs in very thin atmosphere. In thicker atmospheres, wind cooling takes heat faster and also; WIND RESISTANCE brakes the speed very well in normal or thicker atmospheres. You're more in danger or having body parts ripped off of you than being burned alive at 1 atmosphere.

Yeah, Angel's eyes are protected b/c of his bird-ness and Cannonball wears goggles, but most flyers just zip around getting debris all in there lol

No they wouldn't since it's canon that the Speedsters turn the power on and off as needed,.. Bart had to be taught how, that's why he was a teen after only two years of actual life. Only when they don't control the ability do they get a chance to grow impatient,.. Wally did it a coupla of times. No,... Their abilities are normally powered by the speed force,.. they don't HAVE to eat or sleep constantly to stay alive. A diabetic Flash? with canon the way it is, he gets treated like everyone else. We were talking about this before were we not? maybe two years ago?

One concequence of powers I have that no one mentions is the Canary cry.
She should be deaf,... NOTHING in canon says shes naturally immune,... in fact he power has been turned on her before.

That probably was a little more dismissive of Christianity than I meant it to be. I'm cool with people who believe in that faith (or any faith), provided that they believe in a reasonable (read: figurative, malleable, historically justifiable) version of it.
It might have been interesting the first seventeen times someone thought of it, but in the intervening forty-million occasions that it's been brought up, it's gotten stale. |

Furthermore, The Marvel universe has this kind of negative general feeling that DC does not have. Even if some stories are tragic, the whole direction of the universe is to show positiv things. In the Marvel universe it is the contrary, it is not that often that you have a bright superhero with a cool power that is nice and all. If someone was running as fast as Flash inthe Marvel U. , I suppose there would be a terrible compensation, like "each time I run, I get older" or "each time I run, I kill one people on earth, am I still a hero ?" and at the end the "hero" runs one last time to save the universe but kill his girlfriend in the process. and even with that, the avengers will see him like "you killed your girlfriend, you are a killer", so the whole hero will have a fight because they disagree. the whole thing with realistic salt and down t earth hopes. For that, I'm thankfull to the speed force. Realistic Superman or Aquaman or Flash is a pretty silly thing for me, beginning with the so-called realistic vision of C.Nolan. I enjoy fantasy things, separated from the real life. I hope you understand the whole thing about the difference in the universes, I was not talking specifically but in general. |
