Does anyone know if "The Wrap" is a relyable news source, because what I find interesting is that they say he is expected to reprise his role in the Avengers movie. The most recent rumors I had heard was the Loki / Hulk storyline was being replaced by a Skrull Invasion storyline. Now while I wouldn't mind seeing either, I would prefer the Loki / Hulk storyline over the Skrull Invasion. Now I know a lot of people are saying if Loki is the villian in the Thor Movie then how will they continue him as the villian into the Avengers movie and still make the Thor movie stand alone. My answer is that while Loki is the Villian behind everything in the Thor Movie, the big battles would mostly revolve around fighting the Destroyer and any other minions that Loki sends out after Thor. Therefore, if Thor fights and successfully defeats the Destroyer and anyone else Loki sends out to kill him, then to me there would be a sense of completion in the Thor movie while still leaving it open for Loki to cross into the Avengers movie or a Sequel. Once again just my thoughts, but it would be so epic to see Hulk and Thor go toe to toe.
Thanks for listening. Surfer |

I can see it easily. They say a comic book movie is only as good as its villain and Loki is one of the big guns. He's got the potential to be as iconic a screen villain as Magneto or the Joker.

Thanks for the update webhead2006. If the Skrull Invasion is out, then it would seem likely that this article is correct and that he will be one of the villians in the Avengers movie. I really do hope they use the storyline where Loki tricks Hulk into battling the Avengers. It would be amazing.

yea surfer from what it looks like skrulls probably not happening yet. But if they do plan to use them later i wouldnt be surprised if they are teased or given a shoutout somewhere in avengers. it would be best to start off with an earth base villain then go to cosmic threats for sequels.

(even if only for one long scene maybe?) but i mostly wanna see Tom act as loki. his look and his voice seem perfect (look for the youtube vids in this thread) |

Yeah, Hiddleston's performance should be pretty impressive, based on everything I've seen and heard of him so far. I like the costume design but it feels like the gold could've been a bit brighter to contrast with the dark green better. Still, as I mentioned in another thread, that may just be a lighting issue. Odin's gold certainly looks bright and contrasts well with the rest of his costume, for example.

The high-res image makes the costume look completely difference, the gold contrasts fine there.

I actually think he'd look alot better if he was wearing the helmet and he lost the cloak.

i just hope loki is awesome in the movie. i liked how in hulk vs thor he quivers infront of thor, but doesnt even give banner a second thought. i like that among the gods he is not mighty but cunning, where as among the mortals he is mighty. like in the cabal how doom talks down to everyone but loki, epic. doom was so careful around loki, it was awesome to see that interaction. a villain like doom who is scared of no one was apprehensive when talking to loki. that is what i hope loki is like in this movie. the mortals should fear loki.

Misjuevos, I really like your description of what you thought Loki should be like in the movie. If he is anything like that description I think he will be in for a treat. So, lets hope. As for Brian Braddock's comment. I agree that the helmet will help to complete the mental image that comic fans have in their head about what Loki should look like. However, with or without the helmet, if he acts like Misjuevos's description I would say we will be getting a very good version of Loki as a villian. Perhaps not one that all comic fans recognize as Loki, but a good version all the same. As for the cape. I rather like the green cape as it is the opposite color of Thor's cape and on a more subliminal level lets you know they are opposing forces.

I'm kind of managing my expectations for Loki. I hope Branagh nails him perfectly, but he's an incredibly complex character and there are loads of interpretations out there. Plenty of comic writers haven't quite gotten him right, let alone someone who has to effectively adapt his entire characterization, developed over decades, in the span of about two hours.

Yeah, I understand you wanting to manage your expectations of Loki. Like you said he is a complex character and in my opinion probably the single greatest villian in the Marvel Universe perhaps save Dr. Doom. Unfortunately, Fox and the people they hired to make the Fantastic Four Movies really screwed up the Dr. Doom character. They just didn't not understand his character at all. So, I can understand someone having reseravations on a Villian of this caliber after seeing what happened to him. Really it was just so much potential wasted. However, this is Marvel not Fox and this is Kenneth Branagh not Tim Story, and Branagh's directing style is a perfect fit for this movie. When I heard the news he was directing I was thinking Marvel could not have selected a better choice to helm this thing. Now, Tom Hiddleston as an actor, I am unfamiliar with his acting ability. However, if Kenneth Branagh states Hiddleston steals the show, then I feel compeled to believe we may finally get a villian of epic proportions, like many of us feel we should have gotten with Dr. Doom. Trying to keep the faith.

If anything, I'm relatively certain Branagh won't screw Loki up as badly as Fox did Doom, if he screws him up at all. I have a good amount of faith in Branagh and I'm hoping for the best, but I've gone into comic movies with high expectations and been burned a few times now, so I'm always a bit wary.

I'm not worried at all that Loki will be screwed up as badly as Dr. Doom was. One of greatest, most bizarre villains and they made him one of the dullest ever. That Hanna-Barbera cartoon from the 60s had a better voice and personality for Doom.

Horns ahoy! Those look great. I can see how they had to alter them a bit due to reality's stupid rules like gravity and balance, but the spirit of the comics' look is still definitely present. Great job on them. I don't really see the "bike helmet" complaint of that dude who visited the set a while ago, but Loki's pretty small and a bit blurry in the pic.
