Default Left 4 Dead 2

Really no thread for this yet?
I have to say it looks awesome. Though I'm pretty sure the only reason that it's no DLC is either A.) Microsoft wanted another L4D game out fast or B.) Valve needed new engines for what they wanted to do.

Either way I'm buying it first day, I loved L4D1 it's my second favorite game after Halo 3.

The frying pan looks hilarious to use. 2009 is a really good year for games.

Indeed.

I felt extremely ripped off after buying the first one and finishing it in less than a day even though I knew that would happen. So I won't be buying the new one unless it is priced more reasonably or it has more value in the package.

From Steam.com:
Left 4 Dead 2, the sequel to the best-selling and critically-acclaimed co-operative multiplayer thriller, promises to set a new benchmark for co-operative action games and become one of 2009's marquee titles. Set for release on November 17, the title adds melee combat to enable deeper co-operative gameplay, with items such as a chainsaw, frying pan, axe, baseball bat, and more. Featuring new Survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items, Left 4 Dead 2 offers a much larger game than the original with more co-operative campaigns, more Versus campaigns, and maps for Survival mode available at launch. Left 4 Dead 2 is targeted for release on Xbox 360 and the PC on November 17, 2009

It was designed to be played over and over like pacman than something you play once and never pick up again.
I agree though, this looks more like an expansion pack than a sequel.

Part of me feels it's too soon and doesn't really count as a real sequel, the other part of me can't wait to hack up some Zombies as Uncle Phil

Haha, and he'd do it too

I like the New Orleans setting. Pretty cool setting, better than "random city #9" from L4D.

I know. People kept telling me that, and I went on and played it for about two weeks, but I still feel like there just isn't enough game there to justify a full retail price. And I think the game got a huge pass by pretty much everyone just because it was Valve. And don't get me wrong, when it first came out I wanted to love the game because I love Valve, but I just couldn't. And now I want to love the sequel, but I guess we'll see.

I wouldn't say it got a huge pass-by.
It got critized by alot of people and pretty much every reviewer mentioned a lack of content. What is there is solid design and polish you typically get from Valve. I don't get the sales idea behind it the game has barely been out for, I dono, a year or so, people have been waiting a while for Episode 3/Next game package, according to Kotaku, this new one will have more content. But if you already bought left4dead within the year or so, why would you want to buy another one that looks quite comparable? Saying that though, I didn't stop people buying Gears Of War 2 or Call of Duty 15.

Do you play online? Because L4D is fun as hell with some friends.

He's Hispanic & a con man/gambler.

From wikipedia:
"The game will be set in the Southern United States, starting in Savannah, Georgia and ending up in New Orleans, Louisiana. Four new survivors will be introduced, with their backstory provided in a similar way to the original through dialogue in the game. The survivors include Coach, a high-school football coach, Rochelle, a reporter for a local cable company, Ellis, a boy mechanic, and Nick, a gambler and conman"

I was gonna start a thread on this, but I've been too busy reading the GameFAQs boards reactions to the announcement and laughing.

Also, cool beans if Nick's Hispanic. Knew he had to be awesome for more reasons than looking like Scarface.

feel ripped off that a new one is gonna be out so soon - then no-one will play the first one online anymore and I will literally be forced to trade up and waste money - great

Can someone explain why this (or L4D 1) is not releasing on PS3?

Because PS3 sucks and only cool people play on Xbox.

Kidding. Valve says it's a tech thing. Probably also has something to do with the fact that the audience for Valve isn't as big on PS3.
