Well they're all games. Basketball, Football, same thing. Sport is just another word for games basically.
I mean, look at the definition. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sport It's just as much a sport as anything else. Requires skill and a competitive nature. Hell, if falconry is considered a sport then why the f**k not Poker?

As I said earlier, all sports are games, but all games arent sports. For the record, I wouldnt consider falconry a sport, unless of course we're talking from the falcon's perspective...

ESPN probably thinks the spelling bee they covered awhile back, and the Hot Dog eating contest are sports too.

I consider the hot dog eating contest more of a sport then Golf. it requires use of more muscles, determination, and is far more dangerous since you can choke and die

^ That's a competition not a sport. There's no "game play" aspect to a hot dog eating contest. It's like running a race, there's a singular goal acheived by an individual, i.e. run the fastest 40 yards, eat most hot dogs in 2 minutes, etc.

Poker and Monopoly aren't even in the same league. I mean, you don't play for real money in Monopoly. And you could get your legs broken playing Poker depending on where you play of course.

No. I don't really think so. By that logic, aren't Crazy Eights and Go Fish sports as well? When I think of a sport I think of physical exertion. Something that you could actually get fit doing if you did it enough. Tennis, hockey, football, soccer, volleyball, badminton, etc. are sports because they meet this criterion. And for the same reason, I tend to exclude Nascar and golf as well. There isn't really all that much physical exertion involved. That's my two cents anyway.

ESPN has been covering the Spelling Bee for years now....I think it's a thrill for the kids and it's a nice gesture on ESPNs part to dedicate time to something most people see as silly
