yeah. i mean, hitman is the type of game that takes up so much time for me. it's so much fun; i love to replay levels over and over and take my time with the game.

wish i had more time.

more consequences or twists to missions are welcome, just so long as they fit and make sense. I can think of several ways to ruin any hitman game.

I'll probably get yelled at for suggesting this, but I think it'd be cool to add a multiplayer mode similar to Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, where you have to compete to hunt down a mutual target.

Except better than AC:B with more elaborate missions.

That's one of the things I would mention if I wanted to ruin Hitman. Lol, kidding. If it were handled with care it could be enjoyable. Obviously it would be versus, 1:1, because an assassin usually works alone. AC:B method was to put you on a small map filled with cookie cutter npc's and assassins, leaving you to blend in and quietly kill your targets without being killed by other assassins.....ridiculous. First, bigger map, secondly, killing your opponent is more a part of a work hazard obstacle than a secondary objective. If you can avoid contact altogether, then it would be more fortunate for both of you. Third, The real scoring is in how you dispatch targets, and how quickly. Public execution style is rewarded the least amount of points; whereas, making it look accidental is one of the most rewarded. About the maps, they are all high profile hits with Murder of Crows crowd levels, and a lot of security. I'm talking trigger happy bodyguards, police, nosy/annoying npc's, metal detectors, cameras, and with few private spots. An assassin's nightmare in other words.

Yeah that's what I meant by more elaborate. I thought AC:B had a cool idea with their assassin multiplayer missions but it wasn't handled properly. If it was done right though it could've been great, because the idea is awesome.

The big snag with that assassination mode is people who just run around like idiots. I rarely saw people trying to actually blend in and be stealthy; they just ran around and killed whoever. If Hitman made MP truly a stealth operation with big, challenging maps like you said it'd be awesome.

And if they made it so you didn't respawn if you died that would discourage people's crappy behavior. I just think competing against other assassins for a target in Hitman styled missions would be a blast.

HITMAN: ABSOLUTION ANNOUNCED

Quote:
Square-Enix owned IO Interactive announced the fifth game in the Hitman series this morning. Titled Hitman Absolution, it finds the titular Agent 47 betrayed by his agency and on the run from international law enforcement.

In a press release forwarded this morning, IO also announced that Hitman Absolution will use Glacier 2, a new engine from IO, and that the game will be "familiar and yet significantly different experience from other Hitman Games," according to Tore Blystad, the game's director.

No release date has been set for Hitman Absolution. We'll have more information about Hitman Absolution for you during this year's E3, starting June 7th.
Also, the thread title can now be changed to Hitman: Absolution.

Good to hear! I picked up the Hitman trilogy for the PS2 a couple of months ago and it was definitely one of the best $20 I've even spent. Looking forward to the next entry!

The teaser was just the announcement video, it wasnt supposed to show anything, altho if you catch the red numbers at the end, they are 110706 which comes out to be June 7th, 2011, the day E3 kicks off.

I understand it was an announcement video, but there have been many other announcement videos that show more. Not a criticism, just a comment.

I've never played a Hitman game before, but I've really wanted to. Tried the demo for one on 360, but I didn't much care for it. Hopefully this one will be better.

As big as the series has become, it's still a niche title. The gameplay isn't for everyone.

On paper, Hitman seems like something I should love, but based on that demo, they need to work on their execution.

In fairness, the demo level was a poor choice compared to some of the other levels in the game. The hotel mission would've been a much better choice, but it was probably too big for a demo. Even the rural neighborhood mission would've been a better demo option.

Basically, don't let the demo sell it short for you. It's a great franchise that has a lot to offer. There's many ways to complete each mission, which makes it very replayable IMO.

My dislike (which is probably too strong a word honestly) of that demo had nothing to with the mission or level structure. It was mostly with how clunky the controls felt, the poor character animation and visuals, bad voice work, etc.

I want to like it though, which is why I hope this new one is better.

Yea its harder to overlooks those coming from not having played any of the previous games. By the time Blood Money came out, the gameplay elements were beginning to become stale. As its been mentioned before, the game was a port. I mean the gameplay really hadnt changed at all since the first title. Even more considering some the titles we've seen now.

More details:

Quote:
“Hitman Absolution follows Agent 47, a cold blooded assassin, who takes on his most dangerous contract to date. Betrayed by those he trusted and hunted by the police, he finds himself at the centre of a dark conspiracy and must embark on a personal journey through a corrupt and twisted world, in his search for the truth.”

“For the first time we are taking Agent 47 on a personal journey which allows us to explore other parts of the Hitman® fantasy,” said Tore Blystad, game director, IO Interactive. “This is both a familiar and yet significantly different experience from other Hitman games; something our silent assassins will relish, as will all those new to the Hitman world.”

Love the sound of the story of this game. It also sounds like it could possibly be the final installment.
