Pretty much Uncharted in movie form (or I guess it's more accurate to say Uncharted is Indiana Jones in game form). Pretty heavy on supernatural elements. I think half of the fun for adventures is exploring the unknown and magical.

You really should watch them again... They're only some of the greatest films ever made.

I'm really loving what they're doing with the character and the brand of Tomb Raider. It is a nice change of pace, even though I wouldn't mind seeing them revisit the Legend story, this is just what the series AND Square Enix needs.I've noticed that Squenix has been hit with the ancient problem that so many have before: Hubris. They rely on one or two brands, and barely try to put any form of innovation in it. Sure, Final Fantasy XIII was gorgeous, but the battle system was a bit of a bore. Kingdom Hearts has pumped out spin-off after spin-off, when people just want to see the next true sequel.
I won't even mention their latest disaster *cough*FinalFantasyXIV*cough*

Tomb Raider and Deus Ex seem like a step in the right direction, hopefully it will cause Square Enix to reanalyze their strategy.

The supernatural element's of Tomb Raider are at the core of the series. You can't remove them fully without removing some of the very essence of Tomb Raider itself. Madness I tell you!

Either way, I'm trying really hard to temper my expectations for this game, but, another Tomb Raider game coming out is always a big thing for me. I've been with the series since the begining, through thick and thin, and somehow, Lara always manages to pull through. You better not screw this up Crystal Dynamics.

Yeah, you can't remove the supernatural elements. Jeez... in one game you fight Dinosaurs and your enemy turns into a she-demon, then you in another you find Excalibur, and the next you find Mjolnir!

It looks to me like there is going to be some supernatural element, because there's that image of the person strung up to be sacrificed (or already was)

Not to derail this, but the reason for that is the team behind KH is working on another game that's taken away their time. If they weren't so involved in that, I'm willing to bet we would have seen a full-out KH3 by now.

Oh, and the game is a Final Fantasy gaem

The "new" Lara looks suspiciously similar to Elena Fisher in the first Uncharted game.

Oh man, that screen of someone perched over her with a pick reminds of The Descent. I hope we get some creepy cave crawling people in here.

Pretty sure the clothes aren't even a rip-off, they look like a fresh take on Lara's old attire.

I know, it's Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which looks somewhat promising.
Don't get me wrong, I love these games, I'm just tired of seeing nothing new done with them.

Awesome pics. I like the new direction they're doing to the franchise. It will be interesting to play the origin story that define Lara Croft.
Can't wait to see some gameplay footage.

This is definitely the right way for the Tomb Raider series to go since Uncharted practically stole it's gameplay right our from under it.

From playing the other recent games I think need to cull the checkpoints.
Near enough every minute to half minute a little clink "checkpoint" message comes up taking pretty much any tension that made the original games enjoyable out the window.

These checkpoints help alleviate the frustation that came along with the original games. Nothing was worse then going through a difficult section, only to miss a stupid jump and have to start all over again bc there hasnt been a checkpoint in a while. I think they should stay.
