Yeah, I definitely felt TF2 was too long. Don't get me wrong, I like long movies... but only if they hold my interest. TF2 drug everything out to be ten times longer than it needed to be. Like that part at the end where Sam and Mikaela RAN across the desert while Bumblebee followed behind them. What the hell was that about? Maybe I missed something there... but when you're trying to get something done as fast as you can, I have no idea why you'd opt to jog 5 miles when you have a car that can do 0 to 60 in .00005 seconds.

Sgt. Stone is a pre-existing GI JOE character. I think there was an animation pilot made in the 90's featuring Stone. Stone was also in the Sigma 6 animation and toys.

I forget where Stone appeared before that.

Early positive reviews of this movie = plants. Think about it. RT had like 5 positive reviews up and its like OMG 100%! Now its down to 41% and dropping like cow dung.

I'm looking forward to seeing it this weekend. I didn't like TF2...so this is probably more to my liking.

Dude I remember Superforce, it would air back-to-back with the Superboy TV show in the 90's.

I haven't seen the movie yet but regarding the score by Alan Silvestri is there any cool action music similar to his work on Back To The Future?

Agree with first two,but not the 3rd one,GI was way too long and it even though the pace was good it was still too long. If they chopped it down to 90min's it would of made it a little more tolerable.
I actually liked TF2 a little more than this movie:

Pros:
--I enjoyed SnakeEyes/Storm Shadow.
--Pacing of the movie was decent.
--Backstory on the characters were done okay.
--Duke actor,wasnt annoying as Shia kid from TF.
Cons:
--length of movie was too long.
--CGI was lame and well it was lame It needed more of a Minority Report realism feel,but it had a star wars look.
--acting was bad,except Duke..I like Dennis Quaid,but it seemed like he was forcing the military persona.
--The one liners: yo,joes,knowing is half the battle,hes a real american hero and others were just thrown in,bleh.
--Underwater battle was just terrible,it was like a B version of Star Wars Death Star battle,which WTF was the PulseCannon but a poor mans Death Star ray,really WTF is that.

Even with the bad stuff,I would say it was an okay popcorn flick.

I have the soundtrack, and while I wouldn't say it's necessarily similar to Back to the Future, it's still definitely Silvestri. The orchestrated parts are a bit more like the style that The Mummy had, except that it's got a bit of a high-tech twist. A lot of the music has techno beats integrated into it, and combined with the symphonic instruments it works very nicely IMO.

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra - 8/10

I gotta say, I had a helluva fun time with this movie. It really did bring out the little kid in me again. It was like watching a cartoon. But in a good way. It never takes itself too seriously (apart from the uneccessary insert cuts of Duke and Baroness) The characters all cool. You did really feel as if you were in a toy movie. Unlike Transformers 2 which bombards you with needless humor the humor here works for the most part. marlon Waynes is not annoying at all and I really liked him. Now the worst part of the movie was Channing Tatum as Duke. Good God, this man had no charisma. Just wooden deliveries.

Now Sienna Miller. Holy Mother of ****ing Jesus Christ did she look good. It was the first time I ever wanted to shout "DAMN!" in a movie theater. I think she was one of the strongest points of the film. Badass and sexy. I loved the "nice shoes" line. And I don't know what you're talking about but Rachel Nicols did a fine job as Scarlett. And she was hot as all hell too. And for the first time I actually found a catfight sexy here. Snake Eyes was badass. So was Storm Shadow. But one thing I didn't care for was the sudden abrupt flashback sequences. They were kind of sprinkled into the film where they could of gone in better places.

Now I really dug The Doctor/Rex and then going to Cobra Commander, The Doctor's voice was awesome. But it was ruined by the ultra cheesy Commander voice. The Doctor really reminded me of Vader. The action is long, and it's a whole lot of fun. And the underwater battle is like Thunderball but cranked to a million. It's nice to have a good fun movie to end the summer. Unlike Transformers 2, I felt like a little kid again, and the movie treats it like a kid would enjoy. Unless you're a movie snob who wants themes and thought provoking ideas in every movie, you won't like it. If you want that, lighten up with this stuff. Why can't you just have fun? I sure as hell did.

And the ending was like a cherry on top of a ultra over sweet cake.

Well, I mean movie snobs who want thought provoking themes and layers of every film. They have to learn that all movies don't need to be like this. What are they expecting out of a toy movie? If they don't like it, they should at least have fun. But they probably won't admit it.

I dunno, considering that this toy movie once had a long running comic series of 150 issues and even more when the storyline continued that had some pretty deep, layered stories at time.

Doctor Jones, your excuses are ******** to me when a movie like The Dark Knight makes $500 million. What do I see LITTERING the shelves when I go into Toys R Us besides GI Joes? Batman: The Dark Knight toys.

I'm going to watch this movie with the mindset that it's supposed to re-create the jovial feeling I used to get while watching the cartoon. If it succeeds at that, I could care less if it's not deep and has a silly plot.

let this be carved down as the first time i ever agree with Vile.. but its totally true.

i like my share of dumb popcorn fun movies.. but this is insultingly beyond dumb.
cant ever remember any movie which i laughed at(in a bad way) more than this movie.

childplay fight choreography(snake eyes vs SS banging swords together)..with random electricity around them lol

and thats me forgiving it having bad acting, story, music, and action. lol

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - The latest action franchise seemingly designed to further spread the incidence of ADD among youth the world over, "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" plays like a sequel to a film that was never made.

Opening Friday without being screened in advance for critics -- probably a wise move because most of them have a mental age of over 10 -- the Paramount release film should achieve its main goal of provoking sales of the venerable Hasbro toys upon which it's based.

Channing Tatum and Marlon Wayans play Duke and Ripcord, two young soldiers recruited by the international G.I. Joe military force to help save the world. Their nemesis is the evil organization Cobra (presumably an offshoot of SPECTRE), and a sinister Scottish arms dealer (Christopher Eccleston, letting his thick brogue do the work for him) who has created a deadly weapon that has the ability to disintegrate everything it touches.

Led by a John Wayne-channeling Dennis Quaid as the suitably macho-named Gen. Hawk, the G.I. Joes include a representative cross sample of wisecracking heroic types, including weapons specialist Heavy Duty (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, far less intimidating here than in "Oz"); the sexy Scarlett (Rachel Nichols), who disdains emotion but doesn't mind displaying plenty of cleavage; the requisite ninja warrior, Snake Eyes (Ray Park); and technology expert Breaker (Said Taghmaoui).

On the villainous side are Duke's former flame, Ana (Sienna Miller), whose move to the dark side is signified by the dying of her formerly golden blond tresses to black, and her brother, Rex (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, sacrificing years of hard-won indie credibility with a single paycheck), whose similar waywardness is conveyed by his disfigured face and raspy voice.

Not that the characters matter, because the screenwriters and director Stephen Sommers ("The Mummy") are determined to mainly deliver one high-octane, heavily CGI-laden action set piece after another, to ultimately deadening effect. The best of these is a breathlessly staged sequence in which Duke and Ripcord, wearing special suits that enable them to move at fast motion, attempt without much success to prevent most of the city of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower, from being destroyed.

"The French are pretty upset," a White House aide then informs the president (Jonathan Pryce) in an example of the screenplay's laughable dialogue.

Sommers has employed "Mummy's" villain, Arnold Vosloo, to play a similarly menacing if less-memorable character here and also has recruited Brendan Fraser for a less-than-stirring cameo appearance.

After 118 minutes of nonstop mayhem, the film ends on a surprisingly muted note, though pains have been taken to make sure that the hoped-for sequel has been carefully set up.

Damn did they ever rush this movie out.

Rushed, lame ass looking CG. Even worse than the worst parts about Van Helsing and Mummy Returns.
