Superman Returns? Zoolander? What kind of list is this?

I consider Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem the worst movie ever. It makes Alien: resurrection and AvP look like the works of Christopher Nolan by comparison.

Speaking of Christopher Nolan, I thought I was the biggest TDK hater here, and I give that movie four stars out of five. Wow, I'm surprised people hate the movie that much.

That's how backlashes work. Once something becomes a pop-cultural milestone people start pretending they hated it to come across as individualistic.

Um, no. That's not the case at all. TDK is far from a milestone. There's something called personal opinion. This is what I hate about TDK fanboys, always forcing opinion into other people.

Oy. When a film makes a billion dollars, invades the public consciousness and fuels the media to the extent TDK does it is considered a POP-CULTURAL milestone. Same as Titanic, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars, ET, etc. That does not imply quality, merely that it has become an important product of its time.

In terms of earnings and word of mouth, yes, it is a milestone. But, it didn't 'raise the bar' in any way, it won't affect how movies are made in the future. Heath Ledgers performance is great though.

And like I said, I respect Nolan and how universally recognized it is. I don't hate it, but it is severely overrated.

It raised the bar on what a superhero movie could strive for in terms of sophistication and storytelling.

We won't see it's potential impact for another year or so. Time will tell how it influences upcoming superhero films.

It being overrated is one thing. I get that most people (including myself) don't think it's "teh gratest muvie of al tyme!", but bringing its name into a thread entitled "Worst Movies Ever Made" is beyond asinine.

False. TDK pushed the comic book movie genre into new territory. It showed that a movie about a superhero could be taken seriously as a full fledged crime drama. Future comic book movies will have to live up to the standard it set, so I'd say it's changed the way people view and make superhero movies like no other comic book movie has done before.

Looks like Episode has beaten me to the punch.

Transformers (2007)
Saw III
Jason X
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation
Van Helsing
Batman & Robin
The Hidden II
The Fast And The Furious
Hostel 1 and 2
Tomb Raider
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation
Howling IV: The Original Nightmare
Howling: New Moon Rising
Jeepers Creepers 1 and 2
Spider-Man

I'm sure some will balk at me for Spider-Man, but that movie was honestly one of the biggest disappointments in movies I've had and I was bored to tears the entire time watching it.

Pure opinion........listen, anyone who says the Dark Knight is the worst movie ever made is clearly full of ****, but I have been more entertained by other comic films. I've said many times since the movie came out, I give it 8 out of 10. Which in my opinion makes it over-rated. I've felt that way since I left the theater. I still liked it, but it was far from perfect in my eyes and I think there are other comic book movies that are just as deep. This isn't me trying to say the movie sucked, because it didn't. I do think that given time it will not hold up to the people that praise it as mind-blowing.

I just want to make this clear, I never said TDK was the worst movie ever made. I don't want to come off as an ******* but it isn't close to the worst movie ever made. I hope no one got that impression.

I think it showed that it's possible to have a superhero movie be seen as much more than just a superhero movie, but I really don't think it's going to impact other future movies in that genre. And simply because it's a lot easier to half ass superhero movies and still make some money. It's not the case all the time, but you get the right character, the right actor at the time, it doesn't really matter if it pushes or blurs the line between genres or is really any good at all, people will still go see it.

What are you talking about? I was laughing my ass off at that one. The awkwardness of the film is why it was so funny to watch with the MST3K treatment. It's a truly awful film by itself, possibly the worst I've seen that show do.

Bollocks.

If we see more mainstream films shooting in IMAX, and I believe we will, it very much will be affecting the way movies will be made.

The Joker should be viewed as a collaboration of Ledger and the Nolans rather than just Ledger... the way the movie was filmed it raises Joker above the plot itself (not unlike when Jack chewed the scenery in 89) and with a character like the Joker its exactly how it should be.

TDK will have an impact. It is not the best movie ever. Nor is it the worst movie ever.

I have no idea what to me is the worst...but it ****ing hell is NOT Zoolander or ****ing Brothers Grimm....or most of those on that list. Seriously......that list is really...really fail.

You should add "half blood prince" to your list as I rated it below Superman returns, Rockey 5 AND Star Trek Nemesis. Still, for pure stupidity in filming I voted for Superman Returns. (bows head in solemn moment of silence for the
once greatly depicted Man Of Steel.)

Gus Van Sant's remake of Pyscho...

I was literally in pain watching this or what I tried to watch.

And TDK is a milestone in comic book films. That is FACT. Studios and directors are now looking to that film to say, "How can we make a movie like that?" Raimi has been said TDK has raised the bar. With TDK and IM, superhero films have been raised to more expectations. People and studios want films just as good as TDK. It really did change things. Whether you like it or not, I don't care, (and it's not the worst movie ever, that is also fact, but not the best movie ever) you cannot deny the effect it has upon comic book movies.

I hear people who walk into a movie like Transformers 2 with an open mind, expecting it to not be cinematic genius. I feel when people watch Batman and Robin, they compare it to TDK or Burtons Batman. When I watch Batman and Robin, I go in with that open mindset, I watch it for sheer entertainment. I will quote the AVGN "it's treated as a comedy, and a throw back to the original series." I find TDK to be rather dull, unlike Batman and Robin, which I find awesomely cheesy and hilarious (in the good and bad way). It's also way nicer to look at. Visually it's spectacular, cinematography and everything. I've never been a fan of the 'dark, shaky, gritty' style of movies, I'm a more 'cinematic' kind of guy.

For me, I'd rather watch Batman and Robin on a rainy Sunday afternoon than TDK. Based on entertainment value.
Your assesment of the cinematography is just wrong. From an objective standpoint. Wally Pfister shot TDK with gorgeous clarity, and there was minimal, if any shaky-cam. You're thinking of Batman Begins. Pfister made used color and lighting powerfully, and accentuated the films visual motifs, thus putting emphasis on their themes. And yes, TDK had powerful (and obvious) visual motifs that were brought to life by the cinematography. Can you say the same for B&R? No. The cinematography in B&R was gaudy, off putting and cheap. I think you just prefer neon comic booky garishness of Shumacher's Gotham to Nolan's photo-realistic, wonderfully rendered Gotham.

That's an understandable view on it CBGB. Basically there has been a movie made of each different version of Batman throughout his existence. You happen to enjoy the cheesy, comedic version of it. Nothing wrong with that.

Just if you're going say that you go into the movie with an open mind, you have to realize that TDK was never meant as any kind of tribute to the kind of Batman that B&R was. You're pretty much doing what you are telling people not to do.

Exactly. This list fails. I doubt some people on this thread know what the difference between a movie they disliked, and movie that was just poorly made with no effort. There is a difference.

I cannot believe I'm saying this, but even with how terrible Twilight is, it's not the worst movie ever (THERE I SAID IT!).
