I've had the lowest expectations from this film from day one and have always said it will be one of the worst and that it looks nothing like GI JOE and blah blah...
But I'll be the first(?) to admit: I'm strangely excited to see it this weekend. All the TV spots and trailers have got me kinda pumped to watch it, and I think I might actually *gasp* ENJOY IT!!!

Same here, at first I was like "we have another TF2 on our hands" but now I'm so excited for this.

Nice.
I'm excited. I pretty much know what to expect at this point, so I'm just thrilled to go see a freakin' G.I. Joe movie in the theater.

I might not be too positive about the movie, but I want to see it... So I'll leave any expectation (except that it'll be better than TF2, DB:e, SF:TLoChL) out the door...

I've also been waiting for a GI Joe movie since the 80s, but I'm going to sit this one out; too many changes that don't sit well with me, changes that I feel were unnecessary and detrimental to the mytho of GI Joe.

Dude, it's a movie. You can't let that get in the way. Enjoy it for what it is. You're being ignorant.

Even the lifetime fans who gripe about the changes will still go so they can gripe more afterwards. See, something for everybody!

Over time my excitement has built up quite a bit.
I'm actually more excited to see this than District 9. Oh what you could have been District 9...instead, from the second trailer and tv spots they went for a more action oriented film.

I'm getting more interested. Last week I had zero interest but for some reason I am now. I thought it was gonna suck but I'm warming up to everything. And I kept quiet but I really dug the Superbowl footage. It was better than I thought it was gonna be.

Yes, I am definitely strangely excited for this movie.
On one hand, it looks absolutely stupid and corny, on the other hand, there is something really fresh, off-the-wall, unabashedly simple and honest about it, that keeps making me think it's going to be great. I will go to the theater and see it... I just don't want to psych myself, but I can't help it... I'm psyched. |

I'm sure it will kick ass since it's more of an action movie but I also wasn't expecting a documentary. I thought it was going to be more of a drama of some sort I guess. |

I'm not as excited for the movie itself as I am the fact that all of my friends and I will be seeing it together. Its a big deal cause everyone's schedules have been out of sync for months, and this will be the 1st time in forever that we all get to hang out again.
It took G.I. Joe to get us all in the same place.

I don't think there's anything strange about being excited for a GI Joe movie.

To be honest, Levitt's performance in 500 Days of Summer made me want to see this movie even more. Quite strange indeed.

VERY hyped. My interest in the franchise beginning with Image's relaunch in 2001 to the 25th anniversary figures in 2007...it's all led up to this moment. The culmination of my Joe obsession is about to arrive! And i'm quite possibly even going to Joecon on Aug. 15th and 16th(still waiting on word from my job if I can get one or both of those days off). YO, JOE!

The Kerasotes Showplace branch near my place has the showtimes for Friday up, and they got it showing about twice every hour from 11am until 11pm that night, so Paramount is gearing it up.

Silly potty humor, random scenes, some bad dialoge, and a crappy story.
Love the flick, but I understand the hate....but not "WORST MOVIE EVER" hate...thats too far. |

I've been excited, and I don't think it's strange in the least bit to feel that way. I'm not one of those people who act like they're knee-deep in the mythology of G.I. Joe, who claims to own every toy, comic, and cartoon episode known to man.
No, I'm, like most people who will see this flick, somebody who grew up and had some toys, watched the cartoon, had a few comics and cried when they thought Duke died in the movie. I've never expected high drama from it, and personally, wouldn't want that anyway. Just as I laugh when people criticize athletes for not being model citizens, I find it hard to believe anyone would want G.I. Joe, or Transformers to be some sort of melodrama. If you want to teach your kids about having morals, you shouldn't be using Michael Vick or Manny Ramirez as an example in the first place, and if I want Oscar worthy performances, I certainly wouldn't look to G.I. Joe for it.
