I don't think he's dead.

SE stuck his sword in his stomach and fell just fell through the water. He wasn't floating like a dead body should.

As soon as I saw him hit the icy water, I knew that he could come back. Heck, Cobra Commander survived getting blown up in a building, plus the nanotech (which was completely overblown and over used in this movie) could probably fix him right up. It might be safe to assume he has them in his body already.

I thought it was obvious when they showed him falling into water that he would come back, I hope he does, he isnt as good as Snake Eyes was in the movie (not familiar with the cartoon or comics), but i hope he comes back.

I take it Snake Eyes was always the better of the two?

^Well, they are pretty hard to kill movies, if a normal ninja went through all that, I doubt he would survive, but in the movies, yeah, it isnt far fetched to think he is alive.

^Hell even in the movie during the chase scene Snake Eyes not only survived some unlikely situations, but didnt even get a scratch or injury.

No, it's not. My guess is that they will go with the -

'icy waters preserved him long enough and Mindbender or someone picked him up in just the nick of time.'

It could be a good time to introduce another character such as Copperhead, Major Bludd, Firefly, or Chameleon(the illegitimate half sister of the Baroness.)

The use of Chameleon would do wonders for the Duke/Baroness story which really blows in my opinion.

Not been a fan of GI Joe but enjoyed the movie, so dont know about other characters, but the arctic water and conditions is a perfect excuse for him being preserved and the nanobots could easily heal the wound.

Summers confirmed on the dvd commentary of the movie that Snake Eyes purposely missed Storm Shadow vital organs and that he'll be back for the sequel.
