Initially a project conceived by the talentless Paul W.S. Anderson, Castlevania has been in development hell for a while. When W.S. Anderson handed off directorial duties to Sylvian White, he too moved on to other projects, and is currently working on Warner Bros/DC's adapation of The Losers.
Now, James Wan (Saw) is tapped to work write and direct the film. http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/16838 So what do you guys think about that? Feel free to share your thoughts and concerns. Personally, I think Wan is a talented dude, but his films tend to be overly-stylised. With next year's elegant Castlevania: Lord of Shadows coming out, being produced by Kojima, will this be another Resident Evil like project, where the games are ironically more cinematic than the movie adaptions? So what do you guys think about that? Feel free to share your thoughts and concerns.

To give you an idea how cinematic Castlevania SHOULD be, here is the extended edition of the "Lord of Shadows" trailer.

Not to happy with Wan or Anderson involved. I liked Saw but his last two films have been complete crap.
Someone with more vision than Wan would have been preferred. Don't think this'll turn out good. There's also an existing Castlevania thread. Easy to miss as its pages back. http://forums.superherohype.com/show...ht=Castlevania |

You know what's beautiful if they don't even bother.
With the first post I stopped at Paul.W.S.Anderson, that guy clearly knows how to ruin films. They should ReBoot the Resident Evil for starters, get some real Directors in who have played the game and are able to adapt it rather than take "their own take" on it and then put it to film, and maybe call it Biohazard like the original Japanese version was called, just to clear things up. Lave Castlevania alone. ∞

I think Castlevania deserves a G. Del Toro type, not Paul WS Anderson, the king of being average.

If Paul W.S. Anderson is still producing, I don't see how this will not be a fail of a film.

I enjoyed the Resident Evil movies sure but I know they are mediocre.
Now I just don't have any reason to believe that the Castlevania movie will be anything above the RE movies. |

Well, I like the concept art... it looks fairly true to the game.
Paul W.S. Anderson is a hack though... if he's still involved, even as just a producer... this movie is in trouble. James Wan... well, I liked Saw, but I haven't seen any of his other films. I've heard bad things. But regardless... he seems like an odd choice for this. Maybe he'll do okay, I don't know. |

I think Wan..has more of a workman style that I can somewhat admire; moreso than WS Anderson, who enjoys being average and having Mila for a hot wife.
At one point, Slyvain White was attached. Even though he directed Stomp the Yard, the guy has worked with Spike Jonze and Michel Gondry, so even then he's a better pick than maybe both Anderson and Wan. And if The Losers turn out to be a great movie, then it would be a shame that White left a project like this.
