WOW... all the Conroy bashing!
![]() I still think he is the definitive voice of the character... at least for as long as he is capable of speaking. In a nearly 20 year span, he has performed every aspect of the character... Bruce Wayne, young Bruce Wayne, Old Bruce Wayne (where hes a total badass), as well a his Batman voice in a variety of unique circumstances and opposite many characters. He's even been Thomas Wayne. I mean, look at his range... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPpa0818qOw He's a talented and underrated actor... that has never given anything but solid performances, which is something that cant always be said of even Mark Hamill. (See 'Mad Love'). ---- Now I agree... he hasn't been at his best in Gotham Knight and Arkham Asylum, but that's largely due to poor dialogue and bad execution of the story. Even in Arkham Asylum, he plays the thankless role, very rarely being given time to shine, sprouting middle of the road dialogue like, ''Go back to your cell... now!''... yet he still does it with alot of passion. Hopefully Bruce Timm and Andrea Romano have got him to add a little extra gruffness back into his voice for Superman/ Batman: Public Enemies.

Mark Hamill will always be the real Joker IMO,as Conroy will always remain the best Bruce/Batman.Their voice captures the heart of their respective comic book counterparts and this is something that Bale,Keaton,Ledger,Nicholson and all the others will never reach

Just watched Batman Begins again this weekend for the 1st time in a while. The scene @ Arkham where Batman/Gordon are trying to save Rachael...his voice is *perfect*. He doesnt over do it, but he still makes it rough and different from Bruce Wayne. I hope he sounds a LOT more like that in Batman 3.

Conroy's the best animated Batman, Bale's the best movie Batman.
Hammil's the best animated Joker, Ledger's the best movie Joker(out of 3). There. Settled. |

Yup, aside from the scene I mentioned, I also loved the 1st time we heard "the Bat-voice". When he was talking to Rachael for the 1st time.

I agree with Conroy. Bale over did the voice way too much.

You guys do realize that it was revealed that in TDK his voice was modulated in post?
It isn't all Bale doing that ridiculous voice. But I understand it might be hard for some of you to accept that Nolan was partly to blame for it...

Conroy deserves all our respect and admiration and is entitled to his opinion.
My only problem with his voice work was in Begins, where his pitch seemed to vary from scene to scene. In TDK it was much more consistent. And even his critics have to admit one of the best scenes in Begins was the "sweear to meee!" interrogation. Frankly, this "over-the-top" criticism is kind of hypocritical. If you can buy this guy in a cape and cowl can seem like a scary creature of the night to criminals, why suddenly a growly voice is too over-the-top? The point is not to sound "natural", it´s to project a supernatural beast persona.

Eh I thought his voice in Begins was better.
In some scenes in TDK he didn't sound scary or supernatural, he sounded stupid like he was on bare steroids or constipated or something. In Begins he went crazy with the voice when he NEEDED to ie the "swear to meee!" bit. In TDK his voice went a bit crazy when it didn't need to. |

Kevin Connroy=incompetent. Any TRUE artist would never bash someone elses work, or speak like they could do "better". Movie and cartoons are the complete opposite. Get Kevin in front of the screen for a movie, then see how many fan boys verbally suck his dick.

He´s understandably angry at the guy, I mean, some douche puts on a cape and cowl, grabs a gun and thinks he´s Batman too. I´d be pissed.

If I just thought what the rest of the world thought, I wouldn´t need to post my opinion, cuz I wouldn´t have any of my own. What´s your excuse?

It's not about following popular opinion. I was pointing out the fact that if it were truly non-existent, there wouldn't be so many people pointing it out, and various parodies being made out of it.
The worst part is that anyone doing a Batman impersonation now, is doing the Bale voice. And it's intentionally cartoony sounding every single time. I remember pre-BB, when even the dorkiest guys had the Keaton-whisper down. Like...wtf, this is a downgrade.

Regardless of that, each viewer is entitled to be bothered by that or not. I´m not. Simple. How the "rest of the world" feels is not my problem.

While I think 100% Kevin is the definitive voice of Batman, I prefer Conroys original Batman voice to this modern one he has been using for the last few years, but hey, I really like Bales voice too, its different and sounds badass to me. However I think Bales John Conner "You and me have been at war..." voice would be even better and more widely appealing.
