The Last Story

Siliconera has spotted that Nintendo has registered The Last Story as a trademark in Japan.

The site notes that the title is registered in English, whereas Nintendo usually files the names of its games in Japanese. This suggests that the game is planned for an international release, Siliconera reckons.

There's absolutely no indication what The Last Story might be - some form of RPG or adventure game seems like a good bet - but a new intellectual property from Nintendo doesn't come around every day. We'll bring you more when we hear it.

Blue Dragon dev's The Last Story aims for 2010 release


Blue Dragon dev, Mistwalker's new RPG has been revealed as The Last Story for Wii.

Published by Nintendo, all we know so far is that it's an RPG and it'll be released in Japan this year. That's it.


Last year head honcho and Final Fantasy Creator, Hironobu Sakaguchi said of the project: "I'm concentrating on creating something really good! I am working on condensing valuable time of my short life and the valuable energy of my staff without any regrets."

Hopefully Mistwalker will do better on Nintendo's platform than they have done so far on 360, because they're definitely a talented bunch.

That game came as a surprised, and i bet i´m not alone, as everyone thought that their next game would be for the 360.

And the logic behind that is very simple, Mistwalker cancelled Cry On, which was going to be their 3rd games on the Microsoft console.
Which, in turn, made everyone think that they have a 3 game contract with MS (Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and the cancelled Cry On), so....
I even expected for it to be for Natal, as Sakaguchi kept saying that they had a great and innovative fighting system.

But hey, i´m happy....i have a Wii too

Their last two games were pretty lackluster, so yeah, pretty shrug worthy for now.

Same here, I'm really not expecting much since Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey were rather mehish.

Mistwalker RPG will be released in 2012.


The Last Story will be coming to Europe in 2012, confirms Ludovic Amouroux, product manager of Nintendo France.
The RPG from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi's development studio, Mistwalker, was released in Japan in January. It includes gameplay mechanics similar to third-person shooters, including a cover system, and online multiplayer for up to six players.
The confirmation with Gameblog.fr follows hinting of a European release by Nintendo France's Mathieu Minel at E3. Nintendo of America has not commented on the possibility of a North American release.

I'm surprised that Nintendo is actually allowing this. I really can't think of when they have allowed another publisher to take up one of their games. They usually just let them wallow in Japan and deny everyone else the chance to play.
