I saw this earlier today...how will the ps3 wand be better than this in any way?:

They both seem to be equal in precision (up to 1mm). So neithers better, ones just for the PS3, the other for PC. The only difference would be the input type. The PC version uses magnet, the PS3 (arc I think it's being called) will use a camera and extra tracker in the tip. Tho the camera could make the PS3 motion sensors slightly better as face tracking among other things can already be done by the PS Eye (not that anyones using it as the PS Eye was forgotten, but it'll add on extra features the tech in that video didn't have).



Either way I am getting more and more convinced the PS3 motion controls will be forgotten like the Eye and Guncon. Aside from being pushed back it's still close to release yet Sony's not marketing it. If you don't watch video game shows like E3, or a have subscription to a magazine you probably wouldn't know it's even coming out. Even the Eye Pet had a commercial.

It´s almost official that the name for the PS3 motion controller is.....ARC.

This claims it will be coming this Fall with the "Kownage Expansion Pack." If that part is real, I assume that would be the kit that comes with Arc and the PlayStation Eye, and possibly a game.


ARC...ARC....that´s just a lousy name.

lag could be a difference. there was some quite noticible in the vid, and related vids. of course the final product might not have that lag.

and I can see why Sony delayed this. The only original title on there that Im interested in is Ape Escape. I have no idea what the heck the others are besides Echochrome 2. They look like a bunch of shovelware stuff, but I shouldnt pass judegements yet until I see something of them

First screens of the first announced game for the motion controller.
I was expecting games to only be announced at E3, but.....ok

Under Siege - An RTS for PSN

Under Siege currently supports some cool things like:
- Native 1080p (not upscaled )
- Replay recording with option to upload to YouTube
- Motion Controller support
- Splitscreen for Co-Op and Competitive
- 4 players online
- Video and voice chat in game and on lobby (with tiny windows on the corner!)
- Photo Mode (WipEout we envy you...)
- Custom Soundtracks

And off course a full blown in-game editor where you can:
- Create your own level (single player, multiplayer) or a full campaign with your story
- Use the same tools that we used to make the Single Player Campaign
- Upload it all for everyone to see (and make us sweat with the all the wrong possibilities that a tool like this provides)

I love good RTS (hope it falls on that catagory), and i love the idea of a full campaign with your story game editor.
But i don´t really see why the use of motion control for that game.

I just realised that the game is Portuguese, and we (i´m Portuguese) are just starting making video games.

RTS is one of the best uses for it. one of the reasons RTS is far more popular on PC is mouse control. Arc shouold be just as good for it. one of the demos at the unveiling was for it's use in an RTS.

Sony´s motion controller to be unveiled at GDC

Sony is ready to present their motion controller to the world at next month’s Game Developer Conference (GDC) at their “Introducing the PlayStation 3 Motion Controller” session.

I was thinking that it would see the light of day at E3, but guess it will be sooner.

It’s likely that we’ll get an official name and perhaps a release date, as well as publishers and developers who have confirmed compatibility in their future titles. We’ll know more on March 11th when the big news finally hits.

Nunchuck coming to PS3 Motion Controller

The PlayStation 3’s upcoming motion controller, arriving this summer with a healthy collection of games, may not only include the dildo-like wand. According to insider rumours, Sony’s answer to the Nintendo Wii may come with a complementary “nunchuck” controller.

Sony’s Arc/Gem/’the Wand,’ whatever you want to call it, is rumored to be arriving in two wireless parts: the glowing stick we’ve seen before and a “nunchuck” that will feature a number of buttons, including an analogue stick, Square, Circle and even L1 and R1. The rumor comes by the way of a NeoGAF forum user, who writes:

“Heard from Dev friend who has these at his work. Was initially given the PSWand with big pink blob, looks like sex toy. Last few weeks wireless nunchuck arrived!

“Has analog stick and square and circle on it and I think L1 and R1. I’ll have to check the proper details but looks like the nunchuk will happen. Wireless too, sweet.”

Though the poster’s reliability cannot be measured, they did have this word of reassurance:

“Just to confirm that this is fact I’ve heard from my friend on Saturday. He’s to be trusted (by me at least) and so I hope you guys trust me. I believe this is happening but if proven wrong I’m sure I’ll be banned or branded a k***head or something.

“I’ll speak to him later this week about the exact details of the buttons but he says that the nunchuk only arrived fairly recently and both have the mini-usb socket in the bottom.”

Though the nunchuck accessory will be good news for hardcore gamers who are interested in the technology, it may not be a positive move for differentiating the technology from Nintendo’s Wii. The Wii isn’t going to go away any time soon, so fighting it on Nintendo’s terms may not be the best move.

So what did everyone think of the GDC reveal?

Really, only LBP interested me, I thought that looked really cool. That and a patch for Heavy Rain are about all that interests me so far.

SOCOM 4 looked pretty cack with the motion controls, and that fighting game was bordering on giant enemy crab.

makes sense having a nunchuck otherwise how would u control w/e's in ur character's left hand. Would be sweet playing Demons Souls with the ability to control where my shield is and how i swing my sword.
