I'm sure there are a lot of different opinions on the film, but I really thought it was one of the better mainstream thrillers to come out in the last few years, and definitely left me with a lot more respect for Costner in recent years (his roles haven't been that varied in the last ten to fifteen years). Not to mention the whole dynamic between him and William Hurt was just brilliant. Demi Moore's character, I could take or leave, but other than that, I really thought this was a fun little film, and yes, it does work as a stand-alone, and I supposed it'd be fine if it stayed that way, but I can't help thinking what other stories could be told with this character.

The movie wasen't bad... Could have lost the plot line with Demi Moore. But as said... Costner and Hurt were good.

Well, Brooks doesn't really discriminate between good or evil people. But you do have Marshall acting like his "Dark Passenger", basically. And it's great that they have a tangible character that Brooks actually sees and speaks with.

yeah, I loved Hurt in the movie. Also, Brooks keeping this secret life away from his family just reminded me so much of Dexter. Plus, Brooks was well-liked and respected. Nobody would suspect him as a serial killer.

Ok now this is bizarre! I watched this movie last nite for like the 4th time cuz well I couldnt sleep and nothing else was on and I kept thinking to myself that it is truly deserving of a sequel. I love this film and whoever said its like Dexter the Movie is absolutely right. There really needa be more inventive serial killer movies like this out. Screw all those crappy killer biopics. Although Gacy with Mark Holton (Fat guy from PeWees Big Adventure) was monumentally disturbing

I think Mr Brooks is one of the true hidden gems of the last few years, the ending left it open for a very interesting sequel.
Dealing with the fact his daughter is most likely just like him.

Personally I think he's the sole reason why people who hate it...hate it. The movie itself is pretty good. Would have been better without Dane Cook but we all know how that turns out.

I agree this was like Dane Cooks only good role. He actually fit the role perfectly just the way he was so excited and moronicly naive was great.

It's just a straightforward, no pretense kind of film. It didn't try to over-think things or go out of its way to be too clever. It was smart, but it wasn't trying too hard to show the audience how smart it was. I don't think anyone was really shocked when

Yeah, the surprises weren't jaw-dropping, but still very well done. I don't know that I would want a sequel to this, though. I really don't want the ambiguity of his daughter's personality destroyed. The uncertainty is what made that plotline so compelling, and subsequently, the movie. I think they could go the route of US Marshalls and do a movie with Demi Moore's character.

I think itd be great if they had another serial killer show up and it be like Brooks and Marshall against this other serial killer. I mean cmon this movie was alot like Dexter and it did have the Hangman which in all honesty was a weak ass character (killer wise) I think they could do something great. I really dont know if I would want to see him training his daughter though

I forgot all about this film, it is great and like others have said it is truly deserving for a sequel. I remember reading a while back, Costner saying that it was part of a trilogy.

I can't believe people actually like this film. I haven't seen it, but I remember seeing commercials, I thought for sure this was gonna be a **** fest. Then I looked in the tv guide an saw that this thing has three and a half stars out of four. Really??
