I know back in the 70's and 80's it was rare for a TV actor to make it into movies and usually they were frowned upon with a few exceptions like Bruce Willis, Michael J. Fox, Tom Hanks.

I know back when Batman '89 was being cast Bob Kane wanted Robert Wagner [Hart To Hart] as Batman but producers reasoned that Wagner was far too old and viewed as a "TV" actor.

The entire cast of Friends seems to have had luck in movies with Jennifer Aniston being the most successful.
