Really loved the book, so I was quite excited to see the show. Very interesting changes they've made, curious to see how they'll change the dynamics of the story. I'll definitely keep tuning in. I wish the junior storyline was a bit more similar to the book, but its still in the same vein so I can't complain too much. Really love the irony of casting Hank from BB, he did a great job in episode 1 despite not being at all what I'd originally envisioned. Kind of wish they'd stuck more to the original ages, but its to be expected in a long running tv show. I really wonder what they have in mind to the ending because I really loved the book ending and its thematic implications but that really would be unfilmable.

If the ratings stay high, between this and FOX rolling out 24: Live Another Day and Wayward Pines next year, I'd expect to see more scripted TV on the networks over the summer. Which is nice, considering most of what they'd roll out is rip-offs of rip-offs of rip-offs of Big Brother/The Bachelor made for, like, $15.

I missed the first 5 mins. or so, so can someone tell me what happened between Barbie and the reporter's husband? I tuned in right when Barbie was digging the grave. Thanks.

The pilot was pretty good. I really liked the effects of the cow being cut in half. Kind of funny.

One of my favorite parts of the show was Dean Norris as Big Jim. I saw absolutely no trace of Hank Schrader. He looks like he's lost some weight as well. Looking good.

Nothing. It opened with a bird hatching then cut to Barbie digging the grave. At least I think so.

Damn, so let's just start blurting out spoilers for other shows that have nothing to do with the show being discussed. Geez

I've never read the book but I thought the premiere was pretty good, it set the concept and the characters up well.

Poor cow.

Thanks HR, usually I'm not one to whine about such things but I do plan on watching Falling Skies at some point and yea, I take it that was probably a big one lol. No big deal though

I thought it was okay, overall.

Really, they should have opened in the plane, like with the book. I was wondering when it would show up. The CG was... pretty lousy, actually.

Yea the cg was wack. Just rewatched it. Better the second time around but all I can wonder is if this is really the King book that deserves it's own series like this. I could name a dozen other books or stories of his that would make for a hundred times better television if done correctly and not like their miniseries counterparts. The Langoliers has an awesome concept and IT would just be ****ing amazing.

C'mon man, it's a small plane crash, not a spaceship. They can do better than that.

The thing about the goldfishes (them eating each other) was very telling of what's to come. Which I think is kind of obvious, even if you haven't read the book.

King has done this before. In the Mist for example, a bunch of townspeople get stuck in a supermarket, as all hell breaks lose (possibly literally). And before long, the people trapped inside the store start turning on each other.

That's a reoccurring theme in King's works.

I liked the premier. I'm not sure how they'll stretch this into a large series. One season for sure, but I can't see it last as long as 3 or more.

Given how fast **** gets canceled these days, I don't think you should be too worried about that.

This was the biggest summer scripted series premiere in years. Granted, the numbers could drop, but for now it's sitting pretty.

You've got that right, but I'd like to see this show get a proper ending, just can't see if it lasts it can get stretched so long.

When you're used to eating steak, dog turds don't taste very good. I agree people complain about cgi too much but when it's done on the cheap (as I suspected it would be in this show) it's difficult to ignore.
