Honestly, i prefer my superman very powerful, mainly because, barring the original golden age, it was painfully obvious how contrived depowered superman is. plus, a powerful superman faces more original challenges under a good writer, imo

Or maybe Batman is so awesome that he does some awesome flaring with his cape, covering and uncovering it, making noises from every angle as well, so no one knows exactly where he is. Constantly moving, almost everywhere at once to the bad guys.

Nice attempt to suck the fun out of a cool visual, jeez !

I want both, now. Davis and JMS won me over. Johns and Frank im a tad more iffy on, only because i hate Johns Batman but i will buy both because im a sucker for fantastic ****ing art. I too want this ridiculously over powered Superman. Hopefully Johns writes him like he wrote Thor, who was just absurdly powerful if you ask me. and i loved that.

I don't know, the oval being a spotlight makes me think Batman's wearing his own little bat-signal, which seems silly.

On the plus side, the oft-rumored Morrison Wonder Woman project is almost certainly this...Earth-One...thing. I can gladly live with that.

Well, I didn't see it as so much a spotlight. It wouldn't be shining the logo on a wall like that light Spidey had for awhile. I pictured it just glowing, almost like one of those tap lights (the ones you push to turn on), or like Iron Man's arc reactor. Definitely not something that would project the logo onto anything. Just bright enough to catch the attention of any crooks in the area.

Eh, cheesy idea I guess.

Oh really? Nice! I wonder what creative teams we'll get if/when Green Lantern or Flash are done...

Right, but it'd have a bat silhouette on top of it. Glowing + silhouette = big shadow in the shape of the silhouette = bat-signal. If it just glowed faintly, I wouldn't really see the point. That'd just be like a night light that could clue everyone into where he is. Not too practical for this supposedly more modern, realistic take on Bats.

Not to tear your idea apart or anything. It just wouldn't be my choice if I were doing the comic.

I don't think that there will be a Morrison Wonder Woman project. Morrison's comments come from him being interested in the character, but overall has admitted that he doesn't know how to write the character.

I think Adam Hughes' All Star Wonder Woman will turn into Wonder Woman: Earth One because first of all the story that he proposed (Wonder Woman's origins) fits better with the Earth One line than the All Star line. Second, he's an incredibly slow artist that would be better suited in a graphic novel format than a monthly format. And third, it would just be absurd to release a new All Star book now.

Oh, definitely! I wouldn't do it either, not in this book! That's why I mentioned before, I'd only do it in an Elseworlds book that took place in the far flung future, where I'd imagine a bunch of techy stuff glowing anyway.

Definitely not in this book. I'm excited for the realsim angle, and Iron-chest Batman would certainly not fit.

The idea's full of holes anyway.

Anyway, on the subject of the Wonder Woman project, did Morrison mention if he'd be working with his partner in crime Quietly? That artist writer team is just as sick as Johns/Frank, and I think they'd kill on an "Ultimate Wonder Woman" type book.

Was anything ever said about Hughes' WW, other than it being announced that he was doing it?

In that exact same interview you're quoting from, he mentions that he's been cribbing together ideas for a future WW project. Add to this the subsequent rumors of a Morrison/Van Sciver Wonder Woman story that Rich Johnston of LitG keeps on insisting is going to happen, and the DCU blog's statement of "We’ll be announcing some major news in relation to Wonder Woman early in 2010" a single day after announcing the Earth One line, it's not far-fetched at all. It's rather near-fetched, really.

I don't want Grant Morrison anywhere near Wonder Woman. I'd love to see him do a Flash: Earth One or a Green Lantern: Year One because his wonky ideas would really work well with those characters. Wonder Woman, not so much.

Keep Morrison away from Wonder Woman in any shape or form or continuity as far as possible

Yes I agree with you and I would like his villains becoming powerful as well, but there's one important reason for me as to why I like Supes being so powerful. A person with so much capabilities, can do anything he wants and just choses to help people personally I'm tired of emotional tortured heroes. I hope in this series Superman won't whine at all.

I could care less about Superman's power level as long as they can convey that he is putting some effort in his actions. I don't want effortless Superman flicking planets out of existance. All-Star Supes did some crazy powerful things, but he was drawn to look like he was trying very hard when he did. That's the big catch for me. If he's gonna be moving cities around, fine, but I want to see some sweat and immense strain on him when it happens.

I agree with you as well, but if there is no strain shown while doing these things I wouldn't loose any sleep over it. But I understand your point of view.

There's something kind of like that early in Kingdom Come (an Elseworlds set in a not so far-flung future). But it's giant Bat-robots projecting the logo with broken-down Bruce calling the shots from the cave.

These Earth One projects sound interesting. I like that they're going to be published as trades from the outset--but only if each book will be a complete story (that might fit into an eventual bigger picture). It'll be like having all the All-Star star power, none of the All-Star delays.

He mentioned he was into the sexual subtext of Wonder Woman or something, right? As long as it's not in continuity, I wouldn't mind seeing that explored.

Thumbs up DC Earth One....thoughts, expectations, etc.

Personally this looks extremely promising & kudos to DC for getting the right & talented people to kick this off. While I'm not overly familiar w/ Marvel's Ultimate imprint nor too crazy about it I'm totally looking forward to this!
