Default Action Sequence of the year 2009: Nomination Thread

Usual drill, posters nominate 3 sequences each, this will run until the end of Christmas Day, then the poll with the 5 most selected sequences will go up on Boxing Day.

In truth I've seen a lot less movies this year than usual so I can barely make 3 nominations, but here goes!

1) The Gas Station/Mototerminator chase in Terminator Salvation.

2) The Halo jump and Drilling platform fight in Star Trek.

3) The opening sequence in Tokyo from Transformers 2: Revenge of The Fallen.

I didn't see many movies this year either but here goes:

1) The battle in Egypt in TF:ROTF

2) Opening to Fast & The Furious (the only good thing about it)

3) Paris sequence in G.I.Joe (not great but it was the only thing that came up)

Avatar's finale, but the airdrop in Star Trek is a close second. When they jump and it's just complete silence except for their breathes, awesome. The Hurt Locker also was good. Especially the part with the guy in the cage contraption. So intense.

I would say the "Exo suit" fight in District 9, that was just amazing, and suspenseful at the same time.

Next to that I would say the jump in Star Trek as well.

Then the bar sequence in Inglorious Basterds:

"Say auf Wiedersehen to your Nazi balls."

Those are really good, The Star trek scene would probably take it for me.

I really didn't like GI Joe that much (especially the ending) but one thing
you can't take away from it is the paris chase scene which was done really well.

Ninja Assasin , not a great movie by any stretch of the imagination but the scene where he is fighting ninjas on the bypass is awesome.

Avatar , the end battle and then the Mech vs Navi fight we get a the end.

Yeah, Optimus' battle in the forest is about the only thing from Trasformers that should go toe-to-toe with the best action sequences from other movies this year.

I've got to give it to the exo-suit fight in District 9, though. That was such a great sequence, bolstered by such a great movie on the whole, that it wins, hands-down. I still have yet to see Avatar. If the emotional aspect of Avatar is just as compelling as D9, and the final battle is just as good, then I'll consider it.

Not in any order:

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - 3-on-1 forest fight

District 9 - Exo-Suit battle

Star Trek - HALO jump

Terminator Salvation - Gas station/Moto-Terminator chase

Avatar - End battle

1. GI Joe Paris Chase- Yeah the movie was terrible, but I loved this scene.
2. Watchmen Comedian fight at the beginning
3. District 9 Ending battle

1) Halo Jump & Platform battle in Star Trek.
2) Final battle scene (all of it!) in Avatar.
3) Optimus' forest battle in ROTF.

I would say the opening scene from Star Trek is more memorable than the HALO jump.
And the Battle at the end of Avatar is probably up there with the most amazing things I've ever seen.
And the Paris chase in GIJoe was pretty spectacular too.
