Screenname of the Proposed RPG’s Game Master: Batman
Do You Have An Instant Messenger that we can reach you on for better conversation? (i.e MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ect.) And if so, what is your screenname?: allstarbatman - Yahoo, allstarbatman@hotmail.com - MSN Gamemasters/Assistant Gamemasters already chosen: Byrd Man, who shares an equal portion of credit for the concept, aswell. How will the overall layout of the RPG be?: One Shot, a temporary version of a standard seasonal game - with one major difference. Between the beginning and end of the RPG's run, the time period would have shifted at least three years on two separate occasions. Essentially, this RPG's story would begin in 1963, shift to 1966, and end in 1969 - bringing about significant changes to characters and continuity as time would drastically pass. The time shifts would be triggered by three major in-game events, based on player interaction and plot. Players would be allowed a maximum of two characters. They can also apply for characters who didn't debut within the time period, such as The Punisher and Wolverine. They would simply need to be refitted to the era by the player. Continuity would not need to be strictly adhered to. Premise of RPG: It is the year 1963, and America is sent into turmoil after the sudden and shocking assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Citizens are rioting, paranoia is at an all-time high, and division between races has never been stronger in the dawn of the mutant race. America needs a new breed of heroes, and if Sergeant Nick Fury of Division S.H.I.E.L.D. has his way, they're about to get them in the form of a task squad of elite soldiers: The Avengers. But all of this serves as mere backdrop for coming events. In the bowels of space, a mysterious Silver Surfer has been gravely injured in an attempt to save the galaxy from extinction. With him is his tyrannical master's most powerful weapon - The Cosmic Cube, able to shift reality itself to the holder's will. The weakened Surfer is predestined to crashland in the heart of Earth's New York City, but the cube's whereabouts will be unknown. However, there are those with the means to find it whose goals may not be so noble. Between the facist ruler of the Iron Curtain nation of Latveria, and one of the few living Nazi warlords still thriving after World War II's end, the world itself may be in absolute peril. It is up to the new era of heroes to stop them from reaching the cube, risking their lives to save humanity itself from annihilation. What will this RPG bring to the RPG forums? (please write two complete sentences): Well, this is a Marvel RPG that would essentially be basing the characters in the same time period that Marvel debuted on the stands. The early 1960's were very different from the world of today, with alot of diversity and alot of fear. Since the Marvel Comics didn't nessecarily touch upon alot of that stuff at the time, this game would be an exploration about those themes and others from the perspective of several Marvel icons. Title Of The RPG You Would Like To Propose: Marvel: Earth-One Example Of Characters Application: MARVEL: EARTH-ONE Application Screen Name: Character you would like to play: Hero/Villain?: Backstory and Origin: Superpowers: What do you hope to accomplish with the character?: Character sample post (Minimum of three paragraphs and one line of dialogue):

Before anyone asks, I myself would be vying for the chance to apply for Captain America.

Very interested
Recently, I've been thinking a lot about what the comics would have been like back then if they addressed the national and global issues of the time. |

I'll be watching this closely. The prospect of once again being able to let characters say "gee willikers" is titillating.

The chance to play a Simonson-style Thor, or to finally get a crack at Spider-Man, is tempting.
I'll have to think on it a bit and get back to you, but I'm definitely interested.

I'm really interested in Doom or the Red Skull...I'm also toying with the idea of Mysterio.

Also forgot about Luke Cage. Yeah, I'd love to play the Cageman during this period.

This is very interesting since I've been reading Amazing Spider-Man from the beginning for a while now. I just don't know if I could do the time period justice.

It's a simple formula. Marvel character + Slightly more intolerant attitude + cigarettes + crewcut or long hair = 60's version.

I think if I get one or two more interested parties, I'll be comfortable approving this.
The immediate interest seems very promising, though. Me and Byrd were glad to see it.

Re: RPG Application: A New Marvel Concept
I just want to point out that Latveria wouldn't be behind the Iron Curtain if it were fascist. While Communism and Fascism historically used many similar methods, they are, ideologically, very different. Of course, there's the matter of Latveria being fascist in the first place, as Doom has rarely displayed any fascist leanings (fascism being ideoloogically much more than simply having a dictatorship), but that's a matter of semantics and character interpretation, and I'm mostly mentioning it because I'm bored and feel like both writing and sounding smart. Also, and more importantly, being behind the Iron Curtain would mean that it had been conquered or made into a protectorate (read: conquered peacefully) by the U.S.S.R., something I doubt Doom would have considered kosher.

Re: RPG Application: A New Marvel Concept
It would honestly make more sense for Latveria to have been conquered by the U.S.S.R. in the late 40s, and then have Doom be the one who returned home and liberated it from the yoke of communism, thus ensuring his beloved leadership. Even in 616 it's pretty well established that Doom overthrew a far worse government than his own. But that's up to whoever plays him.
