Character you would like to play: Dr. Otto Octavius

Powers:

-Genius intellect, -4 robotic arms which respond to brain feeds.

Basic history of the character (Up until this point): Otto Octavius is a respected scientist, although socially awkward and paranoid.

Otto Octavius was a meek, though very intelligent, boy. A favorite target of bullies, found himself constantly beaten and mocked at school. However, the abuse did not stop at the schoolyard. Otto’s father was left traumatized and emotionally unstable after Vietnam. He, like the bullies at school, beat and humiliated both his son and wife at every turn. Despite this, Otto loved his father. He admired his dad, a tough as nails American soldier who risked his life to protect freedom. He wanted to be just like him—which horrified his mother.

Otto’s protective and nurturing mother made sure Otto would be nothing like his father. She pushed him to pour all his time and energy in academics, keeping him away from distractions like sports and girls and friends. As a result of a lack of physical activity and social life, Otto became paunchy and socially awkward, which only gave the bullies and dear old dad all the more reason to pound his face in.

Otto constantly tried to gain his father’s approval by showing off his A+ science projects, his perfect exam scores, his science fair blue ribbons, his high school diploma, his Master’s, his Ph.D., but nothing seemed to impress the man. Otto’s father died of liver cancer, leaving Otto feeling that his life’s goal would remain unfulfilled. Although his personal life was in shambles, his professional life was never better. Otto became one of the most prominent researchers in the fields of cybernetics and nuclear physics.

Otto now has hopes to develop break-through military technologies, although he is having trouble finding sponsors for his experiments. While many arms dealers are interested in his ideas, none of have stepped forward to offer funding for prototypes. Otto is desperate for funds, wanting to become renowned as the one who revolutionized modern warfare.

Otto has also recently built his most famous and amazing creation: a harness that straps to the back and belly parts of the body with four lmb-like mechanical appartuses, linked to his brain via a mechanical headband, and giving Octavius the oppurtunity to send feeds from hsi brain to the arms, "telling" them what to do. he experimented with Cold-fusion, with tragic results, as his public image as a scientist was severley damaged, his assistant and girlfriend, Mary-Alice, died and he was fired by Seward Trainer. as of now, he is in shambles, and will do everything to prove he was right

Why Have You Chosen That Character?: The character has always intrigued me, as a complex, but ultimately sad character, with regrets, emotions, desperation and possibly mental illness. Bringing him into this universe could not just tie him into some plot tie-ins like spidey villains (particularly Norman Osborn or kingpin, and of course sinister 6 in something like 2 seasons), the mob and spidey himself, but more of the whole spider-man AND marvel universe… also, i buelt him up and did a lot of set-up back in the day, but i was not here for a lot of time. i planned on making him full-blown doc ock in the next 2 posts, and later, now that Sandman, Mac Gargan and Shocker are established, me and andy planned on making quite a sinister team...

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character (IE: How are you changing him or her?): when he'll be Octavius, I'll make him pretty much like what Eddie Brock and Rain Dog did with him, although I'll show some more darker sides of him and some clues and allusions to his future self. When he'll be all dr. octopus,I will make him darker, give him a motivation for revenge (kill the men who ruined him), give him a more vicious/more mature side, make him more realistic in looks, personality and history and make him a less cheesy, more believable villain with some human aspects to his persona. He can be a character that will tie several threads (Spiderman? Mobsters like Big Man, Kingpin and such?)

Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As a Player): A full-blown, 100% working villain, a dedicated player and a plot tier. I could also help continue the story itself, and i'm an amateur writer, i even got a page from an old script of mine reviewed by a journalist who said it's pretty good, and i write some stories from time to time...

Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in (Minimum three paragraphs/one line of dialogue, maximum six paragraphs):

Otto walks in the street, wearing a black trench coat, a brown hat and glasses, the scars under his eyes visible in their grotesque glory. He tries to hide them, looking down, but with no avail. He looks up to the big building, with the big neon sign saying "St. Crispin's hospital".

He braches the door and throws the trench coat away. It reveals a black impact, bulletproof vest, a green Kevlar jumpsuit and 4 metal appendages, with small scraps of metal falling from them. He takes a nurse into chokehold with an appendage.

"I need one thing, and I'm going to make it very simple to you, as it's seems you're not too bright. I need you to bring me one kilo of bone marrow. You see, these "arms" here, hey are not only feeding on my brain," he says as he points at a metal brace at his forehead, which has skin growing on it, and attached to 4 wires that are going under the jumpsuit, into a bump in the belly area that looks like a harness, "it's feeding off my spine. You will be the LAST to die, so I'll make you watch all your colleagues DIE, if you won't bring me what I need."

A doctor enters the room and chuckles. Otto looks at him and sneers. An "arm" of his ascends to the doctor, and a submachine-gun slowly rises from its rear, pointing the gunpoint at the poor, sniveling and sweating doctor. The doctor takes the tool table to a big white room and than stands outside, takes his cell phone and phones 911.

Otto moves his hand forward, and an arm passes right by the cell phone, takes it and crushes it with mighty force. He then says to the doctor in a frustrated tone

"You think you can just fool me, right? Then, if you do, you are truly a moronic, illiterate Neanderthal, and you will NOT fool Dr. Octopus, you DEGENERATE!"

Suddenly, the sound of sirens is heard, and blue and red lights are reflecting in the window. Otto starts to twitch and starts to run, his arms supporting him. He slams the doctor, holding a different phone, in the head, and escapes into a room. He takes a bag, filled with bone marrow, and runs out of the hospital. "Yet again, my mission fails, but if I die, I'm taking this whole city down with me…"

Also, I read earlier that someone wanted to do an Sinister Six storyline. Did that ever happen? If someone wants to plan one, I would be thrilled to hear ideas.

The Sinister Six hasn't happened yet. As it is, Spidey's only fought, like, four villains so far.

To help with the increasingly large number of characters that have been established in the All-Star Marvel canon, I have catalogued all of the character applications on the front page of this thread. So if you need to know "has anything been done with (character) yet?", all you gotta do is check the front page.

Granted, it's not a complete list by any means since it doesn't also cover NPCs, and is only the initial application and doesn't cover anything beyond that, but it's a start. I can do a more complete coverage of everything once we reach Season 2 and All-Star Marvel is allowed to be entered into the SHH RPG Wiki.

Also, I've tweaked a few rules on the front page, making official some of the changes I had made before. So read over it again to familiarize yourself.

ROSTER UPDATE:

This was my fault for not checking this sooner, but both Carnage27's Stephen Strange and Byrd Man's Matt Murdock are well past the 30-day limit. Since both characters are past the 30-day limit, they're technically up for grabs, but since I didn't pick up on it earlier, I'm going to give both players a 5-day window to get a post up before they are removed from the roster and have to re-apply.

Nothing's been done with vampires in any way, shape, or form yet.

I don't see why not. It makes sense that Director 13 would want to respond to a massive gathering of super-people like that.

The Soviets had the Crimson Dynamo project for a little while, and possibly Omega Red, but both of those went under before the USSR fell. Other than that, no, no other nations have any officially established super-teams yet. Though I imagine there are individual heroes and villains running around all over the place.
