Default This time should the Green Goblin physically transform or suit up in costume?

In 2002 when Sony released the first film, using the cgi required to make Norman transform physically would have been a been somewhat of a financial gamble considering the films had yet to prove themselves. As a result we ended up with Osborn in a power rangers suit.

A new directer could obviously come up with a better costume (hopefully), but since the film will more than likely be given a big budget I don't think a CGI Goblin would be possible.

Personally I think having Osborn make a physical transformation is easier from a story standpoint, as you don't have to explain the costume (although he is mad at that point so that helps I guess).

I'm not suggesting that the Goblin resemble the Hulk as he has at times in Ultimate Spiderman. I was thinking something closer to the way he looked on the cover of Ultimate Spiderman 25.

If he's in the costume, I certainly hope it resembles the classic look this time, without looking ridiculous.

So what do you guys think?

Costume. I really don't want him to transform into that.

CBMs in the near future I'm most looking forward to at this moment: 2) Thor 2, 3) Man of Steel, 4) The Amazing Spider-Man 2, 5) Guardians of the Galaxy (would be higher in the list if it wasn't for how much I hate the film Super from the same director).

I'd love that idea of Norman physically changing instead of using a mask.

Definitely costume. I want to see Osborne get built up and then in a sequel just freaking snap and go psycho and put on the mask, not taking some formula that transforms him.

Costume. AND A BETTER FRICKIN COSTUME too!!!!

Physical transformation should be saved for the Lizard.

And a psychotic Norman Osborn, split personality, is MUCH more chilling. And it allows the mind games between Norman and Peter once Norman discovers Peter's secret and begins to toy with him.

Put me down for costume(and get it right this time)

GG is not the Hulk.

As for the mask, then need only look to the Mission Impossible series for inspiration on how to make make-up come off as a removable mask.

This is going to be a huge issue of contention; but I sincerely doubt anyone will need to worry until the third part of the franchise. It makes little sense to introduce the Goblin as the reboot villain as the reboot is about getting away from the Raimi version as much as possible.

IMO, I like this design:

http://www.i-mockery.com/comics/long...een-goblin.jpg

Provides the classic look while updating a few things, key amongst them, no tights. The goblin suit is a chain-link Kevlar. To take away from the 'corny' aspects of the whole 'goblin' theme, they may want to design the mask and hood to cover most of his face, that way, the mouth and eyes make for a terrifying sight when actually seen. The idea being that you're not exactly sure how his face and goblin mask look like.

It seems likely that we will see USM Goblin though, as many younger readers may be more familiar with this incarnation.

Nor is the Lizard, who is also green but it's not the Hulk for that reason. And Spiderman is not Captain America but they both wear a red-blue costume with a mask on.

Physical transformation is not restricted to the Hulk.

And a physical transformation is immune to being screwed up?

Physical transformation? God no. It would literally ruin the movie for me if I saw Ultimate GG instead of the classic purple and green costume.

I don't think Green goblin should even be mention this time around, I think Norman Osborne should be there. Father to Peter's best friend Harry.
But I think just him being there, seeming dark and like a resting evil waiting to attack would be good enough. imagine Norman Osborne talking to peter, anything he said would be dissected and seen as possible creepiness.
But give Green Goblin a rest. Norman is evil enough.

I often wonder what the Green Goblin's motivation for wearing the costume is.

Uh...it was concealing his identity? As for why he wore it after his ID was exposed, its part of his psychosis.

And the next time Joker is used in a Batman film, he shouldnt wear makeup.

Everything is able to fail. I was just pointing out a fact instead of speculating about the next incarnation.

That's anotehr huge problem with Raimi's take. He had no reason to be called Goblin or to wear that specific mask. Or why the pumpkin-bombs.

Suit, approach the human villains without powers from a Nolan direction. That way it could remain realistic while you have the superhero coming from the opposite direction... the dynamics would be great.

Transform, but do so in a manner similar to Lilly Hollister into Menace. Not the Hulk-Goblin of Ultimate, but just his normal Goblin appearance except this time it's a transformation.
