Mmm...pass. They could do better. Plus he's almost 30. He wouldn't be bad, but they could find someone who could the fill the role of a younger peter parker better.

but maybe they will just bypass the high school/origin stuff like the article says :/

I dont see why they cant do the Incredible Hulk thing and have the origin in the opening credits.

Oh and my personal choice for Spidey would be Patrick Fugit

Are they casting the lead before hiring a director? Doesn't a director have a say in this?

I'm not sure if it's a good idea to have a script, cast, villain chosen and everything before the director is even signed on. Sounds like X-Men 3.

I'm sorry, but this has fake written all over it. Jim Strugess was Julie Taymor's first choice for Pete in the Broadway Musical. They probably took that information and ran with it to create this ''scoop."

Oh, and trust me, Noel Clarke, their source? Really never has an inside scoop on anything. He's just a bit player companion from Doctor Who for christ sakes. Yep, definitely fake.

IESB isn't saying he is cast in the role. Pretty obvious to me the article is poking fun of casting rumors and that one in particular. If they are going the Dawson's Creek route, Sturgess is ancient. Webb will be involved with the casting process.

The "so called" scoop was from that director's Twitter and came from Screen Rant and Ace Showbiz.

Noel Clarke, is far from a proven director though who would know these things. Noel is prominently known for playing a minor companion on Doctor Who.

Who said he was proven?

I am agreeing with you. It is merely a fun little rumor, which is the way the sites portrayed it.
