The Commercials And Advertisements Thread

You know, it's all too often that I watch television and see commercials that inspire me to make a thread discussing why I hate them or why I think they're awesome. So, here it is!

If you can find an embeddable YouTube video showcasing the commercial you wish to dicuss, post it! If not, simply describe it. Also include ads that you've seen on the internet or in magazines... assuming they're Hype!-appropriate, o'course!

Don't forget! This is our duty! We, as the consumers, have the right to critique the garbage that's supposed to get our attention and our money!

Okay, let me start with a commercial I just recently saw:

Luke Wilson Loves AT&T:

You know, I always thought Owen Wilson was the more annoying Wilson brother. 'Guess I was wrong! I'm not sure what it is, but everything about this guy makes me vow to never buy an AT&T Plan. The other hundred new(ish) commercials featuring him are just as annoying.

Coffee-Less Coffee Addict Is Really Going To McDonald's For His Fix?:

I couldn't find a video, so, here's a description! Long-haired jerk face is rudely going throughout his morning, telling people off because he hasn't had his coffee - including the very clerk (or whatever you call them at McDonald's) who's about to serve him. It's not funny. At all. In fact it induces anger within me. Do people seriously act this way when they don't get their coffee in the morning? I mean, okay, I knew a girl high school who did, but not having coffee was just an excuse for het to be a *****.

My Bathroom Was Never This Awesome:

Cingular Mom is usually consistently great, but they've taken a nosedive with the recent ones. So my vote for best commercial of the moment has to go to the soon-to-be instant classic: Taco Bell Denise.

While Denise's hotness is certainly a plus, what makes this commercial work is the dude's acting. He plays it so damn well. The way he not-so-subtly looks around to make sure no one is paying attention to his order? SAG award worthy.

I just love how much of a creeper this guy is. I'm not sure he's even acting. Look at him. In fact, I'm not sure this was even scripted.

Then again... if Denise was working at my Taco Bell, I'd probably be a creeper, too.

People at my high school used to sing this jingle in the hallways...this is one of many that they had back in the day. Still dunno how they managed to get so many celebrities to lipsynch for them

Here are two I saw in media ethics class. Both were pulled for being considered offensive by some (if not many), so proceed with caution.

Disturbing Calvin Klein ads banned in the mid-1990s. They show people being interviewed in a basement by a voice that sounds like a sex offender.

European UNICEF commercial in which Smurfs get bombed. This one didn't make it to the US after being so controversial in Europe.
