Maxwell Lord first appeared in the humorous Keith Giffen/J.M. DeMatteis Justice League comics of the late 1980's, though in recent years he had taken a much more serious turn, climaxing in the "Sacrifice" storyline of a few years ago.
In several of the comics, Maxwell Lord has exhibited limited mind control powers, and for a time he even infiltrated Superman's psyche. It is unknown if his character will have these same powers on Smallville and casting for the role has not yet been announced.
Look for Maxwell Lord in "Charade" in April.

Hmm Maxwell Lord. Just know about him from JLU and he just happened to have a couple of scenes with Waller. I do expect him to be an agent of Checkmate.

yup from what i heard about the character. Though i am betting they will keep him around for a bit before any killing. more so if he ends up being invovled with waller.

Was Lord going to be the baddie in the proposed JL movie? I'm wondering if WB/DC have made the decision to make Smallville its main outlet for live action DCU? We'll still get movies, but it seems we're getting more and more DCU on Smallville. I think it's great if that's the case.

Me too, yeah Lord and Talia was supposed to be the main baddies in the dead JL movie. He was suppose to bring the OMACS...

Lord, Waller, Luthor all was once part of Cadmus/Checkmate, so we will see wherer things go from here...

Yes Maxwell Lord was the PR guy for the JLI, and he was remaining that way until he shot Blue Beetle in the head, then Wonder Woman snapped his neck.

Souds like an interesting episode with Maxell as the main villain, maybe we'll see him controlling Clark's mind like in the comics? Either way, I love that Holly Henderson & Don Whitehead are writing this, they've given us some awesome episodes this year ("Metallo" and "Crossfire") Hope they don't disappoint.

YEa i hope they pick a good actor for the role and leave it open for it to be a role he could come back in other episodes. I think they will probably have him be a bad guy. No reason to be a good guy really.

I read that the creative team of JLI, who created the character of Max Lords, wasn't too happy that DC had Max kill off Blue Beetle and then get killed himself.
So maybe they wont use that particular influence.
maybe he will just be a sleazy business man who is part of Checkmate.
